Oxy Pulmon is a respiratory supplement however a lady told me it made her horse run faster and fire harder when given this an hour or so before a run. I asked an Oxygen dealer for something to wake my horse up since mostly they sell calming supplements and that is what she suggested. I tried OE Nitro and it did nothing. Neither did vitamin B12. My horse is solid as they come but she just doesn’t give me much run in between the barrels. Coming home she turns it up but I wish she would wake up some in the pattern. Thanks!

OE nitro is kind of marketed wrong. If you read about it, it actually settles one and calms their stomach.

I just got some oxy pumin and have had good results on my coughers. However, so far I feel like Windaid or air power probably gives the same results for a lot less money. I gave it this weekend with Oxyboost. You actually give it 2 hours out. It’s rather oily and messy to syringe.

If your mare isn’t coughing or fading on the way home you may not see much benefit from a breathing aid. The lady probably had good results because her horse has some breathing issues. All horses probably benefit some from them though. I would try just some air power or wind and see if helps any first before shucking out $100 for oxygen. The oxyboost is cheap and would be worth trying though. It’s only $10 for a 5 dose tube.

I’m currently running on Oxyboost - only have 1 run under our belts on it. I’m not sure if it was the exceptionally windy day or the Oxyboost but he was for darn sure on his toes, and also clocked very well for him in the pen we were in.

Are you hustling her for all you’re worth between the barrels? I grew up riding English - therefore “pretty” and “quiet” - learning to hustle, really hustle, has been one of my biggest challenges.

Lixotinic has been my favorite supplement for years for multiple horses. I notice that they run more aggressive and stronger in the pen but are a little quieter warming up. Lots of b vitamins and iron and a few other things and comes in a glass jug. I have tried tons of stuff over the years but I always comeback to it when I need a little boost for one. I top dress everyday on feed but 2 days out before a show I double up.

Oxy pulmon is a bronchodilator so it is much stronger at opening airways than some of the other products mentioned. That being said you may benefit from another product to achieve the results you are looking for if your horse is running home good than more air may not be your solution. I would be happy to visit with you more about the products if you are interested. Feel free to pm me if you’d like my number to explain in more detail some of the products.

I have not tried OxyPulmon...but I know several people who like it.

I use EquiPulmin and have had great luck with it and I feel it gives my little mare an extra boost. I recently became a dealer, please let me know if I can answer any questions.

Try Oxygen Silver, Rush, or Pozzi Triple Threat.

I use Oxygen Pre-race pastes along with my normal THE supplements.  None of the Oxy stuff I use calms. :

I agree with Lixotinic. Used that stuff way back when and kinda forgot about it! It works really well.

This past summer I used OE Wind & Nitro. I agree that Nitro is a bit mis-marketed...but when I used both together, I absolutely noticed a difference in my horse. Fired harder and less recovery time. Plus my horse absolutely loves the stuff!

I run Nebraska Oxy-Gen and it's not all calming pastes that we have. I would suggest the Oxy Pulmon or if you'd like it in a paste form it's the Equine 7 02. We also offer Rush, Triple Threat, Silver, Oxy Boost Plus!, Jailbreak, and Mag44. These all offer a boost as well. Feel free to send me a PM or get in touch with me on Facebook. I offer free shipping. Thanks https://www.facebook.com/nebraskaoxygen/

Oxy-gen  Rush. I cant give it to one of my horse's bc it is too much for him to handle. I'm now a dealer and keep it in stock for those looking for this exact deal. A girl asked me this past weekend who could NOT break into the 14s in one pen. She did it on first use of Rush :)

Thanks everyone! I bought the Oxy Pulmon and have ran her twice on it and I didn’t notice a difference. So I also bought the Lixotinic and started her on that yesterday so I’ll see if that does anything. Fingers crossed!

EquiPulmin opens up the airways as well.  I've had excellent results with it.

Give it a few weeks to build up in their system but I promise you will see a difference on it.

A supplement will only help a horse fire if it fixes a problem that is stopping the horse from performing.  A lot of times better fitness, and/or better riding/training, or better soundness are what's needed.  "My horse runs out hard, but doesn't want to run between barrels" doesn't sound like a supplement or feed issue to me.

I would also agree with this. I do use EquiPulmin for respiratory issues. However, I found with my mare the quieter I rode the faster she ran. She is push style, so I was still aggressive but quit whipping between barrels and she picked up speed. Apparently, that wasn't her thing. If they could only talk.

Yep.  And sometimes they're bored or have a "safe" mentality so as if to say....I don't want to get to going too fast because i'm just going to have to slow down to turn up here.  I actually trained a horse that was that way.  He would definitely win the "Allstate Save Driver" award.  Worked perfect every time and I tried everything I could to get him to run completely off with me, and he was just soooo honest.  Breezed him on the race track and he'd work impressive fractions, but put him in the pen and he was always very conservative with me.  When I sold him, the girl that bought him was a more passive jockey than I used to be.  She sat more straight up and down as opposed to me being up between his ears gassing him.  That sucker ran hard and was super free with her and improved a half second.  He preferred a more passive jockey.

As Three4Luck said, it's likely not supplementation unless there is an issue that said supplementation fixes.  I have a mare now that hates loping circles and the monotony of the daily grind. So we stopped doing that and just started working her more like a track horse with intervals and different types of speed drills to work the fast twitch muscle.  She's gotten alot more aggressive and though she's still green on the pattern, i've completely stopped working her so she thinks it's fun to go fast and that is translating when i'm hauling her so far.

Some horses do better with the Pulmon an hour out. You can also give more than 30cc. It is priced very reasonably- $100
For 130 doses!! I don't know why you would think Oxy is mainly "calming" supplements. With a name like "Oxy-Gen" it is definitely a respiratory supplement first.
