I just got a new saddle that fits both my horses but is a little wide for one. He's still growing and will definitely beef up. But in the meantime I need a thicker pad to just help take up space until he grows into the saddle. He doesn't have much for withers yet so I'm concerned about rolling with a thicker pad. The WonPads have been recommended to me and they have great reviews but I'm just not sure...any info is appreciated!

I bought one about a year ago, after hearing about them over a decade ago - always in the back of my mind to try, suggested by someone for a high withered horse whose saddle slid back all the time. I didn't ever try it - found other options for that horse, BUT when faced with a totally different shape of horse - wide, flat back, no wither - I decided to try it after switching out over 10 saddles - I didn't like it. It really grips the horse, yes, but I don't know if that is the best thing for the horse.  And because it doesn't breathe at all, they sweat a lot under it - makes the back hot.  Also, on this horse, the fact that it gripped, cause the pad to ride forward during the run, and by the time I hit the alley after the run, the pad was almost 1/2 way up her neck- she ran really choppy, like she was trying to get it to move forward.

Real wool grips better than imitation - so you COULD try a thin real wool liner (I like Diamond Wool liners).

I also like Thinline liners - they are similar to neoprene, BUT they breathe - my horses sweat would seep through the thinline material a little, so I know their claim to breathe is true - they do sweat, but not as much as a neoprene pad. I buy the actual liners that are just their "thinline" material which come in 2 different thicknesses.

They work! I had a horse nothing would keep my saddle from rolling.  A friend suggested this blanket and it worked very well.
