People need to realize a speed limit is simply that....a limit. It doesn't require drivers to go that fast. It is ashamed that those of us that choose to go the limit, or slower, are in the most danger.
I don't think it would help in this situation, but it is a good example of why it is a benefit to buy a trailer bigger than what you need. When I haul 1 horse in a 3 horse trailer, they are going to be in the front stall by the escape door.
Turn your cell phones off and enjoy what used to be life so you don't take someone else's.

Does anyone know how the people are doing as well as the injured horses? Because someone is walking aroung after a wreck does not mean they weren't injured as andrenaline covers up pain.

My friend is doing well and just has a huge bruise on her arm. Her daughter got out of the hospital a day or two after the accident but ended up going right back in for a shoulder dislocation. The horse that was injured is stitched up and is getting hydrotherapy and lots of rest. He is doing well for how many stitches he has along his shoulder. I do not have any other info I the person at fault.

The driver at fault for the crash should be held financially responsible for the replacement cost of the deceased horse and ALL rehab/vet bills for the injured horse.

I saw this on facebook too - and seriously, I immediately got sick to my stomach. Just so preventable. I always wonder and feel so sorry for the horses that even survive things like this. Hopefully they have a make-up that allows them to eventually forget it completely. Such a preventable tragedy!!! What is wrong with people... put your damn phones down while you're driving.

Thank you guys for all your kindness. There has not been an financial funds set up for the owners that I know of. The daughter is doing well after being in the hospital and is just taking it easy for a while.
