| Anyone ride in them? What do they ride like (do they have a deeper seat or a shallower seat) how are they quality-wise? and what size do you use? On the website there's 3 different trees, what fits an average quarter horse with high withers and wide shoulders? I found one I love on the website and it's actually within my price range! :) |

Location: Mississippi | The heaviest barrel saddle I have ever seen was a Slone. It could have been a fluke but even a male barrel racer put it on a horse and said it was almost as heavy as a roping saddle. |

Boy, you aren't kidding! That is the only complaint I have on mine. I love the way it rides and fits my horses though! |

Location: Texas | I honestly hated mine. Threw me forward and didnt fit my horse. Another friend of mine had one custom made to her horse but it didnt fit anything else. |

| Thanks for the input! (Even if there are some complaints about them) are the saddles with the smaller round skirt still really heavy?? I don't want a really heavy saddle that's for sure. |

Location: minnesota | Love love love mine!! I had 2 custom made. Called and sent pictures of my horses back both times and they got it right twice. They were super nice and easy work with. I use mine for everything down to sorting cattle and it rides great. |

Location: OK | My friend has one, deep seat with a real pocket in the seat. The swells are wide and tall enough. I love it. I've never heard her say it was overly heavy. Maybe some of those are more all around trees with a little heavier tree??? I don't know.

Location: South Texas | Heavy made and poor customer service when I had to have one be retreed...as in it took them over a year on a treee that was under warranty that broke and then they tried to bill me for it until I mentioned the Lawyer word and actually spoke to the tree manufacturer who said that of course it was a no charge replacement as Sloan was not billed for the retree on the saddle either......I have known Todd for years and I will never go back there and never recommend them.....if you want quality in a custom saddle Coats or Ammerman all the way......I have been thru Caldwell and Double J and neither could deliver the saddle that was ordered even when they had an exact copy of a used one that they had made before to work from......Coats and Ammerman are your best bets in a custom saddle...... |

Location: Phoenix | My dad has been rodeoing for years, (he actually rodeo'd WITH Todd) and all we own are Tod Slone's. Sure, there's a Cactus and a Double J that we've won, but all the saddles we've bought have been Slone's. They are great quality, well made and fit a horse SUPER. I've tried an Ammerman, Marlene McRae, Shiloh, Double J and a Cactus saddle and finally just went back to my Tod Slone Barrel/roper combo and it fits everything and fits me like a glove. It's got a nice sweet spot and sits you pretty deep. I'm no help on the tree sizes though. :/ |

| I have 2 and my barrel saddle is so comfortable I absolutely adore it! I have to say mine is not heavy at all, to be honest neither is my rope saddle. Mine also has a slightly deeper seat which I prefer. I'm sorry I cant remeber the tree i have because i had my horse fitted for the saddle. They are good quality saddles we've had some for years and they are still going strong! |

Location: MO | I won one and I think there is a difference between the award saddles (Diamond S or Silver series , something like that) and the custom made saddles. The older award saddles and custom saddles I have rode in or tried out were HEAVY!!! The award saddle I have is a little bit heavier than my Corriente and my Billy Cook but not overly heavy to where I wouldn't use it. Here's the kicker....it's not that comfy for ME. Throws me a little forward but what really gets me is my lower back will HURT like mad on one of my horses, but not on my other two. I don't get it, but I CANNOT use it on one of my horses. It kills me. ANyone explain that one to me? I think it is well made and when I upgraded the customer service was top notch. I got the 'B' tree, and it does fit both my wider withered horses along with the skinnier withered, whihc is the one that hurts me. |
