Location: Texas | I am so seeing a lot of people on the thrive and advocare bandwagon here lately and am wondering which is better. My SIL is selling advocare stuff and we tried spark but have also heard people getting energy from thrive. PLeASE , PLEASE no bashing of either just plain opinions of effectiveness. Ideal I would love to heard from someone who has tried both

Location: Texas | I have tried Spark and Thrive. I loved Spark from the standpoint of taste and the energy boost. The only negative is that the energy boost is short term. I used it in the afternoon about 2 and would go till about 7 or so and crash again. But it's not made to be long term.
I started Thrive a month ago. So far I LOVE it. I have sustained energy all day long. I also have returned to my mental clarity that I had before kids. I have a 5 yo and 1 yo boys. The 1 yo does NOT sleep through the night, so I felt like I was in a fog. There are days when my youngest gets up at 5 a.m. Before Thrive, I would have crashed by noon and drug the rest of the day. Now, I have tons of energy, I feel better, and I am not in the fog. I know some people have lost weight on it, that hasn't been my goal so I haven't checked on that. What I have noticed is the mental clarity and the energy. I used to get home and camp out on the couch. Now when I get home, I'm doing dishes, picking up the house, getting dinner ready, and then am out the door to ride horses after we eat.
That has been my experience. Nothing against Spark, it was just a short-lived energy boost. Now I am like the Energizer bunny. I feel like the me before kids again.

I have a 3 day trial of Thrive sitting on my counter. I haven't really given it much thought since I have had a bunch of stuff happen since I got it. If I do like it what is the cost per month to use it? Is it expensive?

If I do like it what is the cost per month to use it? Is it expensive? It is kind of expensive, but it really depends on what you are already doing. For me, I was already doing a multi-vitamin (from GNC - roughly $55/month), shake (Shakeology - $120/for 30 servings), Spark (roughly $55/tub - lasts about a month). So I was already spending $230/month.
By switching to Thrive and doing autoship (which cheapens the price) as well as bundling it, this is what I ordered the last time: Vitamins, 16 shakes, patch, and boost (greens for digestive health--looks like cow slurry, tastes like berries), it was $200. I didn't order more shakes because I have two bags of the other to finish. But the Thrive shakes taste awesome and will be $80/for 32 servings. So for me, it's pretty much a wash. You don't have to do everything to have the results. A lot of people see a difference with just the vitamins, or the vitamins and the patch. The shakes I like because I can make one and get out the door in the morning. The Boost packet is just another source of additional nutrition for me. Again, you DON'T have to do everything. And the best part for me, I was able to try it before buying.
I knew by the end of the second day that it was working. My youngest got up at 5 and I was still going at 10 that night, with no problem. When I realized that, I was like HOLY CRAP. Even my husband is starting the shakes. I may get him to do the vitamins too.

Location: The best kept secret in TX | I have Spark for when I work out. I drink one every morning instead of coffee as well. I love my spark. It wakes me up and gets me to lunch where I can get energy from the foods I eat. I am Gluten Free and have to watch my sugar intake ao I love the Paleo diet but I do slip up every now and again.
I love advocare's cleanses they do and feel like they help me a lot. I don't do it for weight loss. Spark isn't for weight loss. It's to help you gain energy during workouts and throughout the day. When you move more, you do burn more calories. But I don't tell my friends to try it because they'll lose weight. I tell my friends to try it because I work out so much harder when I've had a spark for energy before my workout.
I have a few friends on thrive but I don't know much about it.
I also drink Spark Rehydrate after a workout. It helps a lot to restore what you have sweated out. It's great for the summer to when you're working outside.
Best thing I can reccommend is to drink at least 64oz of water a day. It helps to clean your body of toxins as well. You'll be amazed at how great you feel when you do a cleanse. Don;t focus on how a produsct can help you lose weight, focus on how a product can help you live a healthier lifestyle and let fruits and veggies do the work for you;)

Location: North Dakota -> Colorado | I tried thrive, and it worked really well the first day, but I think I had an allergic reaction and I got a rash behind my ears and on my neck and then I started to become more groggy instead of more energized. I guess it just wasn't for me.

Location: North Dakota | I was on thrive for 2 weeks, I think I was cloudier than normal, and by the end of the 2 weeks the patches were causing a rash (yes I moved them to a different spot, all the time) and I had headaches. I did love the shake for some reason. It's expensive too ($150 a month) I think there is just too much caffeinne in them for me. There are so many things on the market it's hard to know what is legit and what isn't. I hear of a lot of people that love thrive, it's just not for me.

That is like almost exactly what I had! I see people loving Thrive, it just did not work for me as well.

| I wasn't going to post, because usually these threads just turn into bashes, but, I'll try :)
I have been on Thrive for six months and it has totally changed my life--I was exhausted, had headaches every day, joint pain, emotional issues, was really a wreck. Now, I'm pain-free, have clean healthy energy, am happy and not moody, my mind is clear, and am the healthiest I've been in my life. I have not tried Advocare, but what I like about Thrive is it's not an energy drink, it only has about as much caffeine as a can of Coke, and only 2 grams of sugar. You feel good because your body is getting the nutrition it needs, not just getting jacked up on something for a few hours. We just can't get the nutrition we need out of our food sources any more, with our busy lives, to keep us feeling our best. I will never be without it :)

| Everyone in the horse community is on the Thrive bandwagon here so I gave it a try. The amount of stimulants and caffeine in the products are dangerous. Heart palpations, GI issues, and rash from patch are just a few issues I got while taking it. After talking to a few people I found out there was a handful that had to go to the hospital because of the product.
Overall, the money spent on the product could have gone to a trainer or nutritionist. I don't know about Spark so I can't offer any input on that product. But please be careful with Thrive.

| There is only 50 mg of caffeine, which is the same amount in a can of coke or an Excedrin tablet...

I agree, however, what gave me the shakes then, because I drink caffeinne every day, and along with the shakes I couldn't stop yawing. It was awful. Probably one of the "natural" mystery ingredients. IDK, I just didn't feel good on it.

That makes sense, they do recommend you cut back on your caffeine intake, because it has loads of probiotics in it, which helps everything you eat or drink absorb well.

| So...if human supplements are all gimmicks....are horse supplements all gimmicks too? Because we discuss those all the time :) | |

Location: north dakota | Thrive contains synepherine which is chemically similar to the banned substance ephedra and caffeine. The amount is not on the label and even if it was supplements are not regulated by FDA and it's not until they start causing a lot of problems before the FDA will look into them and see what it really contains. It seems like everyone taking it raves about the increased energy, decreased appitite and increased mental clarity which happen to be benefits of stimulants. There are many bad side effects also including increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, risk of heart attack and stroke. I had heart palpations and it almost put someone else I knew in the ER.

So if I have not drank any form of caffine for over 10 years this will probably eaither make me sick or have me bouncing off the walls.

I do not & have never taken any of the human supplements but you make a VERY good point there. I think most horse supplements are crap as well. The difference I see though is that most people seem to take the human ones for the main reason of loosing weight not for true health benefits. But it seems the human ones, just like horses go through streaks. About once a year everyone jumps ship from one product to the next in both as something "new & better" comes out.

I totally understand what you're saying, and I agree. I just know what it has done for me, and many people around me. :) And I didn't do it for weight loss--I use it for the nutrition.
