| So as I look into alfalfa cubes we have "top of the Rockies" available to us . On there website they QUOTE "no dyes/no preservatives" then read the ingredient label via website says nothing about laundry list of things I have to look up to understand. Cool go ahead and get a truck... Truck load gets home. And I would post pictures of there site and bag but that would be way to hard. I expected propionic acid but was a little shocked with the rest. Can anyone guess what one is responsible for pink slime ;) propionic acid, acetic acid, ammonium hydroxide, benzoic acid, sorbitol acid, methylparaben, and propylparaben. I guess it only annoys me because they really push the all natural ideal on the website.... Emailing them about quoting "no preservatives" .... I'm feeling frisky today ;) |

Thistle, just curious, are you planning to feed them as the sole ration for your horses? Or just supplement? I have access to GREAT cubes here but wondering about just using them an no more bales of hay!! Mine waste tons of hay AND its hard to find consistent hay from month to month. Thanks! |

Location: Louisiana | Oh wow. I've been feeding them and didn't even think to look on the bag. Shame on me!! I'll have to look in the morning. I will say I've been feeding them and I much prefer them over the Standlee cubes from TSC. They're the best quality I can get around here. My horses love them as well. |

Check out there website and what it quotes. Most of the preservatives are things house hold cleaners are made of and toxic if inhaled. I was a little shocked .. Standlee is expensive here and I can get these for less with a heavier bag.... But I'm a little curious why the overkill of preservatives and they smell totally different than standlee. The Rocky ones don't have the sweet smell that standlee does but the horses seen to gobble them up better.

I really cannot wait to see the day that good quality, soft cubes are available to everyone. It should not be this hard to feed your horses safely! |

Where I am the TOTR are $5-7 MORE per bag. Ughhh. This is so frustrating. And now I feel like a dummy for assuming they're safe. I know the Standlee are supposed to be, but they're like bricks. I really am shocked at myself for not reading the bag. I always do. The one time I don't... |

Location: Louisiana | Yep just checked my bags...ugh. I'm really surprised I didn't check it before. I'm a reader lol. Well I guess it's back to TSC for the crappy cubes lol. At least I know they don't have all that junk in them. Tsc does carry an alfalfa/Bermuda cube that isn't too bad. The horses like it. And if I remember correctly it is on the list of safe feed companies. |

check that bag to see where they get their alfalfa, I think it is from Arizona. I didn't buy those cubes because I was worried about blister beetles. I was told that if they were in the hay, they would be in the cubes and still be potent. I feel for you, it is so hard to find safe feed. |

| OK you all, here is the million dollar question: LOL Can you feed a horse a SOLE RATION of cubes? I know a lot are feeding just the omnis but are those horses also on pasture or any other long stem forage? Out here in CA we have tons and tons of hay but its difficult to find consistent quality hay bales alfalfa or any other type. One bale horses love, the next is a nightmare. I have been supplementing with cubes and my horses really like the Tractor supply an another local brand here. I was thinking of just feeding cubes!!! ANy help appreciated. |

I've seen quite a few feeding Omnis without any pasture. Either stalled or dry lotted. I think it just depends on te quality of your cubes. The ones I'm about to go pick up aren't the best quality, but they're safe. So I wouldn't feed them without any other source of nutrition. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have a load of Omnis. I won't feed them as a sole ration simply to save money. I have access to good quality grass hay and I'm feeding whole oats. They're out on pasture but it's crappy, and they have round bales just to give them something to munch on, not good quality. So I don't count the pasture or round bales as nutrition. |

Sorry for my ignorance- but what makes TSC's Standlee cubes "crappy"? I don't have access to Omnis in Florida, so I feed Standlee Alfalfa/Oat cubes. Should I not? |
