Location: Somewhere around here | I've mainly seen these on ropers or ranchers but I've been an increase in popularity in the barrel pen. What do y'all think of these for barrel racing?

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | most are too long for your average barrel horse. Seems barrel horses are thinner than tripping horses. I have seen some that are not as wide and heavy made though, kind of pretty and tempting to buy. |

Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | They are too big and gaudy for my particular taste! I’ve seen some pretty ones, but they aren’t anything I’d ever buy. I can’t make myself believe in them... my husband ropes bulls and drags them in the trailer, as does my brother, and neither one of them even rides with a regular breast collar! They both ride well made saddles that truly fit their horses and ride horses that pull correctly! |

| I think you are referring to a PULLING COLLAR that goes up over the shoulders from the girth
to hook onto the saddle horn. These were invented by Mexican vaqueros as parade tack.
Make sure you have a snugged up wide back girth and double padded saddle pad
at the withers ... this setup has a tremendous downward pressure point under
the swells and making your saddle flip up and down. Very easy to create dropped
down withers with this rig. Extreme pressure to peck muscles between the front
legs.
TRIPPING COLLARS are an extra wide breast collar,
some with a curve at the shoulders,
most have wither straps,
with lugs attached to your saddle or girth D rings.
It should be snug across the chest and may or may not have
a lug snugged up at the center of the girth.
Back girth should always be snugged up !!
A horse's pulling power is across his chest using his body weight.

No I am talking about Tripping Collars. I know the difference between a pulling collar and a tripping collar. I own and use a pulling collar so I'm pretty sure I'm correct in my own question. But thanks for trying to educate me. |

| I do not own a tripping collar (yet) but personally, I just LOVE the look of them! Just seems like it makes them look wider =] I would like to have one, for no other reason than I like the look haha |

| I am not being rude or mean but coming from a family of steer ropers....the picture of the "tripping collar" is not correct and please do not ever try to rope something or trip something with the breast collar like that. The top tug needs to be attached to the D of the saddle and the bottom tug gets buckled the cinch on that side! and very rarely do you see anyone actually using a 1 piece anymore they use MOHAIR 3 pieces....a one piece will cut ones air off if you rope something very big and if they stand on the end of it like they should it will cut their air off like that too. I know there probably isnt anyone on here that cares about Tripping like I do lol! Have a good day yall |
