Our local saddle club is looking for a new or very good used arena timer for various events.  What do you guys recommend for brands and do you know of any for sale?  The only websites I have found for new ones are Farm Tek and Pegasus timers.  Please help me. THanks.

The Tanner Time people were selling a very reasonable priced set of timers at the  American West 4-D barrel race at Waco.

You  can go to www.ebarrelracing.com to get info and their phone number. I know they use Pegasus Timers...I would talk to them...they have to depend on the timers they use.

Yes I looked, they have nothing. I have looked at other equine sites on their tack and misc. items for sale and haven't found any.

I looked for a good used one for YEARS and finally bought a FArm Tek wireless that I LOVE.  So easy to align, set up and take down.  Was kinda spendy, though.

I spent all last summer trying to find a used one too. Finally bought the Pegasus because it was so much cheaper.  After it got here I found out it wasn't cordless. But we kept it anyway.  It's a great timer, will do almost everything. Sort, print, all the things I've never tried yet.

But, I probably should of got the Farm-tek. It is so easy to use.  You just set the receivers on the tripods & turn everything on. Change the batteries every so often.

Yes, it is a cinch, HOWEVER it is almost too easy to align.  When I align it, I make sure it is all level and aimed straight at the other.  Then it works fine.  If you get it close, it will pick up most of the time, but will miss about 5% of the runs. UGH!  As long as you get them level, it never misses.  Just gotta not get lazy.

I keep extra batteries in the case, JIC, but I've been using the same batteries for 2 summers- I just take them out of the little timer box after each use and put them in right before. (I'm a tightwad)  I also bought the battery pack, so I don't have to rely on a power supply.  You never know and it's better to be safe than sorry, IMO!
