Location: You never know where I will show up...... | My good mare, who is ALWAYS hurt, has recently been diagnosed with her latest injury--a pulled collateral ligament in her left front foot. The one by her coffin bone. The vet said to put her in 3 degree wedge pads under her regular shoes and give her 4-6 weeks stall rest. He also said to get her on Legend. (I already do Adequan and Legend anyway). After 2 weeks in the wedge pads I am seeing little to no improvement. The only thing is that she is no longer "pointing" that foot anymore. I am using my pht magnets on her and doing what the vet said. Anyone out there have any other suggestions or experiences with this to share? I was hoping to be able to rodeo some this year but??????????????? |

Location: Here | Man I am so sorry to hear this!!!!! I would add some niacin and possible DBG min from www.tlcanimalnutrition.com If nothing else niacin as it helps to increase blood flow to the extremities.... Oh yeah let her live in her bell boots. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | Thanks, SG. She has been on the TLC diet since last July when she fractured the bone in her hock. We got that healed up great, and I had made some awesome runs on her in the last month...now this! I'd been wondering how much I could leave those bell boots on her....I'd only had her in them at night, and I've been wrapping her tendons and had her in her blanket every other night. So it is good to know that I can leave them on her 24/7. I also have the Pain-X light I could use on her too but don't really know how to use it properly. Maybe if you have time you can PM me on that. Thanks again!

Location: Alabama | I had a horse pull the collateral ligament along the hock. He recovered well and it only took a few weeks. What symptons did your horse have, how did your vet diagnose this in your horse ie.. ultrasound? I'm just curious because I have a horse that is having some trouble with a front foot and the vets can't seem to determine what is causing the trouble. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | Well she was solid sound for several weeks after I get her into shape again and I had been making some smokin' runs on her. But all the sudden she became lame one day out of the blue. Then it went away, then it came back. It was real on and off. I thought it may be a gravel or an abcess. The first vet I took her to did a nerve block on her and said it was in her navicular. So I did what he said and gave her some time off, and she seemed fine. I ran her at the PRCA rodeo in Valley City, ND, at the beginning of this month, drew the bottom of the ground, and she slipped badly on the 3rd. She seemed fine after the run but the next day she would not put any weight on that leg. I took her to a very reputable equine vet and he did nerve blocks, x rays and then ultrasounds. He said she had some damage to that ligament that could be seen on the ultrasound. Then he told me to do what I have been doing. |

Location: Alabama | Thanks for the info. They did an indepth ultrasound and took a million exrays and can't find a thing wrong. He was lame for a day and now just points the leg some and shifts his weight alot but no lameness. The vets only could say that he must have taken a misstep in the pasture and gotten some minor soft tissue damage. I think they were just guessing. How frustrating! They said he should be fine in 7 days. So now I'm not sure if I should be running him or not, he still doesn't seem "right" to me. |

Location: You never know where I will show up...... | Mugsy was doing the weight shifting and pointing too. Everything did point to navicular until the xrays were taken and came back clean. Then came the ultrasound and he could see some damage on them. |
