I have deleted the person that has been arrested. PLEASE... we need BHW support to flood the news stations to get this in the media!!!

This came to me as an email, you can verify the name and the email at ww.OklahomaEquineDentistryLaw.com

An Equine Dentist was arrested yesterday. His is the first arrest since
the law was passed which made it a felony.   His name is XXXXXXXXXXX.
He has been doing teeth for 15 years.  He was SET-UP (obvisouly by the
vet board or by Dr. Renegar who authored HB1732).....he was called to
someone's place to work on their horses and when he  got there they
arrested him.   He's the first one so far.  I don't know if you know who
he is, but he's a world champion bareback bronc rider.  He competed in
December in the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.  All horse people
know who he is..... he lives here in Oklahoma.   We need to do something
about this immediately!  This is tragic.  What can we do????  As far as
I know, he's in jail as we speak.

Hi.  When you have time, please do this.  I have already contacted all
of the news channels and the Daily Oklahoman.  Please click on the links below to channels 4, 5, 9 and Fox 25.  Send them a message regarding your feelings on the ban of equine dentistry and tell them how it will
affect you and yor horses if only a vet is allowed to float teeth.  Tell them who you are and be available for comment, if needed.  We need to bring as much attention to this as possible if we are going to get
anything done.  The more people who are aware, the better. The general public has no idea what "floating teeth" even means and (name of arrested dentist)
(who has been doing teeth for 15-20 years) DID NOT deserve this.  He is the first Equine Dentist in history to be arrested and charged with a FELONY.   I have included the link to each news station for your
convenience.  Click each one and send a message please!!!!

This ticks me off. I wonder how many vets go to their M.D. for dental care?

I'm a dentist too, but i dont think I know him. And yes this has to stop, they are trying to make it a law in TX now that you have to be a vet to do dentistry, which makes no sense at all, because you dont take a dentistry class what so ever in vet school, but they are certifed to do all the dentistry work. So equine dentist today have to be very careful, because of this reson.

What a pile of crap!  I put my two cents worth in on the website.  As a horse owner I have every right to pick and choose who I want to work on my horses.  I've had 3 vets work on teeth and each and every time they did a horrible job and basically blew smoke up my butt.  Good Lord this country is going to he$$ and they're arresting a great guy going to work on teeth.

Exactly!  JMO no vet is going to tell me how to trim or shoe my horses (cause the one that did totally FLUNKED) and no vet is going to tell me how to do my horses teeth.  They call these guys felons when there's murderers, rapists and child predators running around this country.

I know a man that wrote most of the text books you will find in vet schools on equine dentistry and they ran him out of (unnamed midwestern state) because hes not a vet. He now has a school in Idaho for equine dentistry.

And I'm sorry all the crap is bullsh*t.  Roan keep me up to date on this please.

There is a equine dentist out of OR that was having some trouble with Vet's threatening to have him arrested for working on other's horses. They said legally he could only work on his own, so to get around it, he "buys" your horse for $1, does it teeth and then you buy the horse back for the $1+ the dental costs.
I guess he ran into one of the vets that had been giving him a bad time, they asked him if he had been working on horses, he said "only my own"....

To me an equine dentist is the same as a dentist for humans and I don't think they have to be a doctor either do they?

Thing is.........most (not all) vets don't do teach worth crap. Down here, I'd never dream of letting the vet do teeth!!! In fact, that was reinforced the other day to me when someone was telling me they could still feel sharp points in their mare's mouth and the vet had JUST done them.

Dentists don't go to medical school but they go through four years of dental school (same as MDs).

One in Utah has been arrested for the same thing.    More than once.

The state tells him is in not licensed to practice. He can't get licensed because they don't license for that in this state.

What is happening to the right to work law?

Just another law regulating what we can and cannot do with our own property. Just ridiculous. If it's my horse I should be able to do with it as I please so long as it does not have a negative affect on anything else. And I'm pretty sure that fixing a horse's teeth so that it can eat properly and carry a bit properly isn't going to have a negative affect anywhere.

I know him and you will not find a nicer man anywhere. This really makes me angry. Whoever set him up should be ashamed! I'm sorry but most Vets do not learn enough in school to do a good enough job on our performance horses. Please keep us informed on how this comes out.
