I would NOT recommend TX. I have lived here all my life. I was taking pictures at a barrel race and the people who were sitting behind me asked me if the competition was always that tough. I told her "Always" and she said that the were ready to move back to where theh cam from because the competition was not as tough there. It is always too hot or too cold to ride and if you do not like runing against NFR qualifiers every weekend you will not like here at all. I must say that I am NOT one of the 1D winners. If you have a pretty average horse you will be in the 4D.

I would agree with that. And I forgot to mention that E. Kansas has an abundance of grass during the spring, summer, and fall, and hay is resonably priced. You can get good quality prairie hay for $2.50 a bale from an individual and $4 from a feed store, $5 /bale for alfalfa.
