Who can give me the low down on this saddle? How does it ride, what type of horse does it fit, etc. The standard gullet is 6.5" which doesn't "sound" real wide. I have an average built horse and I'm wondering if the 6.5 will work for her.
How does the seat size run compared to other saddles? I'd LOVE to find a used one but not having much luck. If I have to buy new who has the best deals?

They are really nice. I rode one this summer. The 6.5 gullet would not be wide enough for either of my horses. I would need a 7 or 7.5 wide gullet. I believe most of the ones she has in her trailer are 7 to 7.5 wide. You have to specially order it from Martin if you want anything wider than a 6.5. I have pretty wide horses, though. For example my Cactus is a 7 wide gullet, but there's something about how the tree in the Martin fits my horse better. I think it's the way they flare the bars.
As far as the way it felt to ride, I liked it. I'd like to ride one that's more in my size, though to really make up my mind. My cactus saddles are 14 to 14.5's, but I rode a 13.5 in the Crown C. I think it was too small because I felt pushed forward.
Anyway, I'm probably not a lot of help, but I thought I'd share what I knew about them.

I have rode the older Cervi saddles for 4 years. I got a race bred and built mare this year and I just felt like I was riding down hill on that saddle all of the time and she was getting me up on the swells. So I called Martin and talked to them. They were wonderful to talk to and work with and sent me out a test ride. The first time I rode it , I was in love. I use a corrector pad and have to use all of my shims and had to adjust the riggin all the way to the back, but when I did it was a perfect fit. They wanted me to meet up with Sherry to get some help and try one of the trees they had modified for her horses, and thought it would be the best for mine, but I haven't been able to. Anyhow, after riding the test ride, I had to get one. I had fall futurities coming up and didn't want to chance not having the saddle that helped me ride her so I bought one from board buddy runningroan. I may send the tree back in this winter to have the modifications done, but am not positive on that yet, because it feels so good right now. For me it sits deeper than her original, but I don't feel trapped. My mare would get me posted up over the swells and with the Crown C I feel like I can get a good deep seat and stay with her, which really helps our times. The first time I ran in it we ran almost a half second faster in that pen than we had previously, some of that was the saddle and some of it was her just coming along in her training. I like her old saddle on my older horse, just fits him and me like a glove, but on my new mare the crown c was just what I needed. I would say that I love Martin saddles, and how wonderful the company was to work with sold me on them even more.

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering if the 6.5 is going to be wide enough for my mare. She isn't overly stout but she does have some shoulders. How can I get ahold of Martin? They don't have a "contact us" section on their website.

I am looking at these saddles also and I am also concerned with the gullet width. I currently ride in an Ammerman saddle with about a 7" gullet width and it fits my mare very well. I am sure the trees on the Crown C saddle are different in ways than an Ammerman so I guess I am kind of wondering if maybe the 6.5" gullet will still fit my mare. She is pretty stout and a lot of cow breeding so she needs the wider tree. Could anyone help me decide if this may or may not work for her or could maybe compare the Ammerman to the Crown C? Thanks for any info anyone could give me!!

I can tell you what I know (which is very little) my old cervi has a 6.5 gullet and fits my stocky cow looking horse really well. I haven't tried the Crown C on him, because I like the way the old one rides. He is the horse I am riding in my avatar.

I got a hold of them using this page, it has a number on it.

I just picked up my crown c at Martin today. Took my horse I had it ordered for & it's great on her. Rode in it & it's really nice. I also run in a Clinton Anderson aussie saddle which I love as well. I will admit the C felt different as I am use to my CA, but I think I will get along with it just fine. I had to leave the CA to be widened as it wasn't fitting my other mare. They are going to widen it to an 8. My crown c is an 8 also. My 2 mares are daughters of Dinero & they are wide bodies. ETA -- Brian was wonderfull to work with. He takes his job seriously and wants to help the horse with fit & wants to teach you how to feel for fit.He takes his time to talk with you. I am very impressed & would highly recommend talking to him if you are concerned with the right fit for your horse. My saddle is the highest quality. I am very impressed with Martin saddlery.

Good post... I'm interested to learn more as well. I know someone mentioned taking their horse to get fitted... Does anyone know if Martin has a way to fit your horse well if you are out of the area? Thanks

Generally the Martin guy will recommend a wider tree for a fully mature horse. The original Cervi has a completely different tree than the Crown C.

I was at the Spring Run Classic last weekend. Martin Saddlery had 3 reps fitting saddles for 3 days solid. They were fantastic. I took my mare and my 2 saddles and my pads to have them check the fit. Both of my saddles were too narrow. They had different Martin saddles with different gullet widths. My 2 saddles were 61/2 inch gullets...too tight. It turns out my mare needs a 7 inch gullet. The reps talked about back muscles, range of motion of the shoulder, pads, fit, etc. The reps made a lot of sense and made saddle fit totally understandable. They had saddles you could try out...it was great. Kudos to Martin Saddlery!

Mine is being delivered tomorrow!!! Super super excited. It has been a long 17 week wait! I got the 7" for my horse. My friend had this saddle so I was able to try gullet sizes on my mare before buying.

SOQUINN... hope this thread goes better than the one you started the other day !!lol WOW, what a deal !!!
Any way, there are 4 of us gals that trained with Brian at Martin and his wife for a week, and we can help you with saddle fit if you would be close to us? I am in Iowa and the other gals are in Stephinville, TX.

I have the old Cervi with a 7" gullet. When I had Six fitten, the Martin rep told me to go with the 8" gullet in the Crown C. Just haven't been able to get all the money together to order one, and I want to have her fitten one more time, as she was only four at the first fitting, and she's changed a lot.
