What about edible goodies? I am sure that they have to be missing some of their favorites by now. Maybe some of those hand warmer packs would be appreciated? I am going to see if I can squeeze my budget a little bit more and help out here too.

OH yes hand warmers meant to add that to the list!! It is very very cold over there right now!!! goodies are great also..they say chocolate is not good to ship because it melts but not sure since its cold here and there?? remember it takes a while for it to arrive especially around christmas so make sure whatever it is will stay good for that long.. Thank you so much!!

So if we just want to send some general gifts that can be handed out to anyone, just mail them to the address in your first post on December 9th?

What are the best kinds of socks to get? I will try to get some stuff put together by then, but I live a ways from a Walmart. I can put all kinds of snack stuff together from our gorvery store though...with wipes and deo, toothbrush etc. I pm'd you, but I prefer to get someone that doesn't normally get things. Makes my heart smile to know I can make a difference.

How incredibly awesome. I would love to send something. Are you going to send us names or are we to send them a general package for everyone? Like a group box? Talk about a feel good thread. We have so much to be thankful for.

I would like to send something! But I'm slightly confused.... (imagine that)

Do I just make a general gift box and send it to the address? No name in particular or indication as to who its from or what its for? Just a "Love, Santa" note?

easydreaminrebel - 2010-11-27 10:47 AM  My husband is deployed to Afghanistan and will be gone through Christmas so me and his mom felt like it would be a good idea to send stockings to everyone in his platoon. He says there are some people over there that has never recieved gifts the whole time there. We have sent 2 people care packages that havent recieved anything during this deployment and I know they were thrilled. So what I was thinking is maybe there would be a few BBs on here((or know someone who would like to)) that might want to get in on the spirit of giving and help us send some stockings or something for the marines. There are 41 people per platoon..wether you wanted to help with a stocking or send a christmas card or maybe even send a care package They would be so thrilled to recieve anything I know!! I would give you the address so nothing would go through me... so what you send YOU KNOW is going directly to THEM!! I know im about to be broke but nothing makes me feel better than helping those who are defending me. I have never gave a more meaningful gift. Just think that you might be sending the one and only gift a marine might recieve his whole deployment. This is a very rewarding thing it makes me feel very wonderful about myself. If there are some of you wanting to participate I'll post the address on here just let me know!! You can also follow them on facebook CLR-15 FWD...Its just sad that we send my husband a box a week and some of these men go 7 or more months without ever recieving a thing...Can you imagine being over there and feeling like no one cares?? I try to help make a difference..So can you ..our goal is to atleast make sure all 41 recieve a stocking but anything extra is GREATLY appreciated!! Anything needs to be shipped and postmarked BY Dec. 9th, 2010 in order for them to recieve them by Christmas.

examples of things we used in stockings...(travel size is nice because they are always on the move)
Baby wipes
Hand sanitizer
Razors,shaving cream,etc
Toothbrush,toothpaste,mouthwash etc.
Foot powder
Socks(they love socks sometimes go week at a time without showers in boots on missions)
Deodorant,body spray,etc
anything to do with hygine...
Power bars
Jerkys((LOVE THIS))
Magazines
Snacks
Eye drops(lots of dust over there lol)
Hand warmers

Anything you want to send... thats just what we have sent and what is going in stockings we have done..

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this I hope you all decide to help a little :)

Megan Gaddy

**Flat rate shipping through USPS Large priority box is 12.50**

**Trying to send all them around the same few days so they recieve them at one time like maybe we can set a date to send our gifts like a time frame between mon-tues or mon-wed(does not pertain to anything) or something like that.**

**It is very cold over there right now by the way so anything to help with that is a good idea also**

Im waiting on the response from the family readiness center about who to address them to directly but this is the general address im just waiting for a name. Might just send it to the address as its listed Ill post as soon as I find out for sure!!

they will be given out as they are recieved im guessing...like to the ones who has not recieved anything yet they will get theres first then so on...

If you want a name of a person... I have a name of 1 that has not recieved a thing since his deployment first to say they want him can have him ill pm you his address and you can send his stuff whenever you want before the date because we will also be sending him stuff as well! Parents are in prison and he has no other family!!

I am in....send me a name and an address ....tell wne to send and I will get this done!!
