Had a chiro tell me to use bandaids and bbs. I haven't tried it yet.

I think the barrel clinician I used last year uses life wave and put them on my hot horse thinking it would calm him... Unfortunately we seen no difference maybe they were used incorrectly?

I will say this..... my paint horse was so body sore before we went to the World Show that he would not have been able t perform without the patches. Also, had a horse colic on a Saturday and it seems that the vets around here were preoccupied and out of pocket. My trainer patches horses much better than I do and she put a patch on each side of my horse's belly. That and some other rather unconventional stuff and he was much better in about 2 hours. These were Lifewave patches by the way and you do need to know how to use them. My trainer patches horses at the clinics at Joseys on a pretty regular basis.

I was looking into some information on using patches for Headshakers, did find a website in New Zealand where they have had some good results but it was with the Equiwinner patches and yes, aware that you have to know where and when to patch. I'd hate to make the situation worse by simply slapping one on her in the wrong area...

I've seen the lifewave patches work, and then not work at all.... I had a mare that was "body sore everywhere" we got her patched as a trial for $10 so i said what the heck why not. Got her patched and nothing changed. Then I put them on my geldings back and SI joints and didn't see him wince with pain when he was pushed on, but he did not run any faster. I think these things are all about the Placebo Effect...

That would be the nice thing about it with Head Shakers since that is a visible issue most of the time, kind of hard to have a placebo effect. The horse doesn't know she has a patch on that is suppose to maybe help her so she can only give me true feedback.

Equiwinner and Lifewave are different products all together.

Equiwinner help with balancing electrolytes. http://signal-health.com/

Lifewave patches are supposed to help with certain meridians and pressure points etc.

I have used both.

Equiwinner is a product I believe in and did see a difference with my horse, and just overall better health.
Lifewaves I didnt see a difference other than I was out almost $100.
Ive heard of some horses with insane burns from them, Ive heard of some horses getting crazier and annoyed with them, and at the same time I have heard of some who have noticed a difference.
Basically to the best of my knowledge its just there making them aware of the spot the little patch is placed.. you could use kineseology(sp) tape in those same spots and see the same results without spending the $$. Looks better I suppose if theyre the nice white circles?

Hope this helps!

Asking people for their opinions is always helpful, I always do, but please remember, theyre opinions, which are like a$$holes, everyone has one :)

The Lifewave Aculife patches help with pain and inflammation. The Equiwinner patches balance electrolytes. I have never used the Equiwinner patches. I have used the Aculife patches and had noticeable pain relief in a sore backed horse therefore making him perform better. I have also used the Aculife patches on myself for pain and they made a difference. I think all horses are different and react to things differently. I would try them both if possible.

I had used the LifeWave patches for calming for another mare which worked well and just was thinking out side the box with my 11 year old mares issue so goggled "patches for head shakers" and the EquiWinner patch came up with some results like I said in New Zealand.
Funny you should say that about opinions...my dad says it all the time too :-)
From every thing I've read on the Equiwinner patch , it isn't like the LifeWave patch where you patch in a certain pattern or spot for different ailments but mostly recommended on the hip area after you clean the area, and a patch a day for about 10 days seemed to be recommended. For those of you that have used the Equiwinner patch, what symptoms did you use it for and how many days did you use it and where at on the body if you dont' mind sharing????

The equiwinner patch worked great for my headshaking horse. I would do it it in spring and fall every year. It takes a while to notice any changes but there was a gradual improvement until he almost completely stopped. I stopped all other headshaking meds, stopped using the Guardian mask. I have had great results and my horse was really a bad headshaker. He is semi retired and I have not done it again this spring and he had some symptoms early spring this year. It did wonders for my horse so I say give it a try, it can't hurt.
