Just out of curiosity and not to jack the thread, but is Clint the first man to run in a rodeo?

A rodeo of this magnitude, yes I believe he is.  Men are not allowed to compete in any rodeo association that I know of, pro or amateur, but I have seen some entered in open rodeos every now and then.
I'm glad one guy got in the top 10, I was hoping to see more make it!  Clint is riding a really nice horse and could go home with a lot of money.

Men used to be able to run in some of the ammy rodeos in Oklahoma. Not sure if that is still the case, but I know I ran against a few back in the day.

Not to be negative but what makes this one event tell us who is the best in the world. My personal opinion of a world champion is someone who can run at multiple levels and win at each of them. It is not asking the people you think are the best to compete against each other.

I believe the top 10 have proven they are the best. Everyone had a chance to try to get qualified and the other top 10 are the best of the qualifiers. I don't see what you are getting at. It's a chance for a qualifier to try and outrun the pros for big money. I think the format is exciting and will get bigger next year.

They're not crowning world champions. They are giving weekend warriors and talented cowboys and cowgirls a chance to compete against the best and a chance to win some real money. I think the whole thing is awesome and I hope it's a huge hit and continues on for years to come.

Again what makes these people the best of the best. I think some of our local riders in all events are just as good. Why did they not get invitations.

Guess that didn't make it because they didn't want to put forth the effort to get qualified and then they didn't compete to prove they could be competitive with the likes of the Top 10 NFR girls. That's probably why.

The Qualifiers didn't get invitations....They got qualified through running.  Anyone could go to the qualifing races.  If your local people didn't show up, then they couldn't get qualified!

Correct. Anyone could run to get qualified.

That is what is so good about this set up! People with really competitive horses, that for what ever reason( too young, wrong gender, health, or maybe just can't travel so much, get a chance to run against the top ten that do earn a spot in the WPRA/PRCA/PBR.

So actually you could have only made a few runs and still compete against people who spent most of the year on the road.
I hope it's a success!

Maybe you just don't understand the concept.......The top 10 from the NFR ARE the "best of the best".....they have continually (year after year) outrun their competitors. They are the ONLY ones who got "invitations".....There were ten other slots that........ IF your "locals", who are so great, had gotten off their butts, could have qualified for.....hence they COULD have run against the best........

Someone posted a couple weeks ago that was butt hurt over Charmayne getting an exemption.  The American is HUGE for rodeo but yet there's always got to be those out there that have to complain.  I don't get it.

All your "locals" had to do is go to one of the 5 qualifier races, pay their entrée fee and end up in the top 10 at that qualifier race. Then to go Mesquite Tx. for the semi finals, run against ALL the qualifiers from ALL the qualifier races and run in the top 20 of all. Then run in the performance, and run in the top 5 of that performance. They could have went to qualify, and if they were good enough, they could be amoung the top 10 running for the $1 Million against the top 10 in the world! Same ground, same arena, same day. THATS what makes this, and those who qualified so great!!
