Bring a pencil and some paper in your pocket to write down his drills and specific instructions to you. You will not remember everything!
I was sad that the clinic I went to was only for one day. I liked his focus on horsemanship and being conscious of what the horse's body was doing. I also liked how he spoke to everyone in the group on an equal basis, directed his comments to each rider on an individual need basis. My 12yo daughter was very timid on a good (but nervous and new to her) horse and Paul basically told her to put her big girl panties on, become the leader, and realize how good of a horse she was on. They were working like old friends by day's end.
I had to ride the 25yo family treasure and he really never said much to me. I finally asked him why and he said the mare was smarter than most of us there that day and he wouldn't change a thing on her. She knew what she should do and she tried not to do anything wrong. That pretty much summed up her whole career!
