If you ride a horse that has a rollback style, what do you use and why?

Anything that has some bend and lift to it because my roll back style horses tend to be the ones that run more straight and square. In practice and slow work I use bits with lots of bend and lift to keep them shaped that way they don't get to flat in their turns or shoulder the barrels. As long as they're standing up I don't care how they turn!

Wonder Gag Bit. I like that I can attach the reins 3 different ways and have a "new" bit each time. It creates lift differently depending on where the reins are attached.

I agree, I don't care how he turns, just turn. Lol

I ride mine in a simplicity goose tree with a chain mouth and no chinstrap. With him he seems to be happier the more I stay out of his face so i do not need much. At home I ride him in my short shank cervi

A Kathy James saved my sanity on my rollback horse. It allowed me to get enough of him to keep his shoulders up and his rib cage as soft as possible, but not so much that it irritated him.

Could you post a picture or email me one?

I've ridden a couple of roll-back horses in an Ed Wright medium shank rope nose hackamore.  It worked very, very well - helps to stay out of their way and let them work, but if you need to bump you can get a quick reaction.

This exactly--chain simplicity, no curb.  I ride him in an o-ring at home, and rope on him in a Petska with a loose curb.

Long shank Goosetree Double Gag. I still try to keep him as round as I can, despite his roll back style - and this helps me keep some bend.

As little as possible : Jim Warner rope nose, and a TTouch 3 pc copper lifesaver ( like a Jr cow horse) also very thin leather or nylon reins , fingertip touch to lift n guide.
