What's a reasonable rate to campaign a barrel horse. I fully understand that the person hauling the horse gets a % of the sale, but what should be paid to haul and show a horse? Looking at the person running the horse covering all entry fees under $50 with the owner covering all entry fees over $50. The person running the horse would keep all winnings under $100 and split anything over $100 20/80 with 80 going to the owner. The owner would pay .10 per mile of hauling on top of a monthly board of $400. Is this reasonable? Off the mark?

I was curious about this my self. I have a solid 1D horse that I'm considering letting someone else run and work a deal on to split cost and purse, but didn't know what to expect on the financial side. How to split entry fees, vet bills, purse money, trophy buckles/ saddles.......
