Location: Where you need a paddle... Oregon! | I've started a new job that is a 40 minute commute. I have my Dodge 2500 Hemi and I have a 1990 Jeep Cherokee and both are inhaling fuel at a rapid rate.
I don't want a car, but I could go with a mid-size SUV, or smaller. I really like the size of the Tahoe's, but they aren't in my budget. I'm looking at vehicles under $5000. I don't mind going older as long as they are well-maintained, etc.
I've looked on Craigslist just to get an idea of what's out there. So far I've looked at Dodge Durango's, Chevy Equinox, Subaru Outback (I know it's a car, but I kind of like the look of them), and Ford Escape.
What is everyone driving that gets really good fuel mileage?

Location: CTX | Before I bought my F150 I had a Nissan Murano. Very comfortable, like a car, but still big enough I could haul stuff in it. The back seat collapsed to a completely flat floor, so very easy to use. I've even thought about camping in it once or twice. Just stick a sleeping bag and a pillow in there and go to sleep. I think I got 23MPG with it against 18MPG in my (much newer) F150. |

| I drive a 2012 Dodge Durango and am getting 24.1 MPG with winter tires on. Before this vehicle I was driving a 2005 Yukon and was getting 14 MPG, |

It's a 3.6L 6 cyl. I have to say I loved my Yukon, but I love the Durango even more. The Yukon had a V8 and I think the Durango has way more power and get up and go! |
