How do y’all price horses as prospects that were previously on the track? Specifically proven winner on the track. Aged out of futurities which I guess would go against him bc you lose that entire buyer market. By a proven racing sire that is deceased proven bottom side as well. Just ball parking here. Do you value in heir track earnings?

for me their track winnings make no difference because I will not run them on the track. the breeding/papers could make a difference for a mare. The only thing I care about is talent and attitude/trainability and soundness.

You don't.

Sometimes it's even a negative bc if it's a large number of outs where they earned say 50-60k then they've got a lot of wear and tear.

The only way you can really say earnings makes a horse worth more is a broodmare or if your selling to a match racer that's gonna run them at brush tracks.

You can easily pick them up for 2-4k right off the track ****ters or older horses. The older the less value. You need to put time in riding and breaking, that's how you add value. It's a total plus if you go ahead and xray knees, ankles, and hocks and make those records available to potential buyers. It'll show that you aren't trying to hide anything which is what most ppl worry about with an OTT horse.

Get them broke well and loping a set then you can price around 6500-10K depending on breeding for those older horses not of futurity age.

Thanks for the input kind of where I was thinking. He’s a nice horse definitely has potential but I had no idea how one would put a value on some of these retired guys from the track.
