All of the races I go to are just me and my horse :) There are several that I'll know people there, but a lot of times it's just saying hi, not hanging out together. I'm fine being a loner though and never decide where to run based off who will be there. I do know people who will skip a barrel race because they don't want to go without a buddy, and they're really missing out.
I'm so used to being by myself at races that it would actually be kind of weird to have a hauling buddy or someone I hung out with the whole time, lol.
That being said, ALL of the races I go to are local, so I don't ever spend the night anywhere. As independent as I am, I would hesitate hauling a long distance all by myself because you never know what can happen on the road.

Hauling alone is no big deal.  I actually enjoy the quiet time and freedom to do whatever I want.  Don't overthink it, if there's somewhere you want to go run -  pick up and do it.

I love going to races with friends to hang out, and when I was boarding my horses it was no big deal. We would have a couple of rigs going and have a ball.
Since I've moved the horses home I do like to meet up with friends at races, but the last couple of years I started to go out on my own also. Some races where I don't know a whole lot of people I will just run, take care of the horse and leave again. There are always people I see at certain races, so I say hi to them, maybe chitchat a little bit. But not really hang out with.
I've also done some overnight races by myself. And I will just take my dog, a book and my computer to watch movies on. Most of the time my husband will drive up to see me run and then go home again to feed the rest of the petting zoo.
I have no issue being by myself so it's not a big deal.
I do have USRIDER, just in case I have an issue with the truck or trailer. And I always bring a gun, just in case... too many crazies running around now-a-days who might think a woman alone is an easy target....

FlyingJT - 2018-07-10 9:28 AM All the time but I'm an introvert. Between kids and work, weekends alone are my "me" time. Get you a book to read for the down time, take a nap(I love naps), or go watch everyone work their young horses. Amazing how many little things you can learn by watching. Take the time to clean tack, trailer, or get a project done.

Same! My husband is always trying to get me to haul with other people or inviting people to haul with me. No! I was forced to talk to too many people during the week so I don't want to talk to anybody over the weekend...even if I like them. Haha. :)
