I was blessed enough to win 3 divisions at a major reined cow horse event last year.  I won 3 of the exact same saddles.  They are excellent quality and very usable saddles.  I am currently using one, was thinking about keeping one in the house for decor and recieved a fair offer on the other to sell.   I corresponding buckles and other awards.  Do you sell your trophy saddles or do you hold on to them for keepsakes and memories?  Regrets?

I have sold one, I may sell the other one I have,  I have pictures of the saddles and the horse they were won on.  Only need a couple to keep to ride in, But I will admit, it took a while to get to where I would let them go.,  Take pictures of the saddles and take the money.

Many folks sell their trophy saddles. Since I've retired, I have been downsizing (only two horses now). I have two trophy saddles remaining and I plan to donate those saddles to Sherri Mell for her ROPER therapeutic riding program.

I still have every single saddle I've ever won.  I currently ride only one of them (a Slone), although I've ridden/tried about 1/2 of them at one time or another over the years..  I have some displayed in my house, some in my parent's house, some in my barn, and some in their barn.  I'm way too sentimental to get rid of them.  My husband did come up with a unique idea for displaying a couple in the house--this is over our pantry door.

I sold all 6 of mine. I do regret not keeping fenders off of some, but I did keep the fenders off of the 1D saddle I won back in 2008. They are in storage and I plan on making a cool display of them one day.
I'm sentimental as well considering I lost both horses that helped me win that saddle in a horrific accident but I am so glad my dad told me to keep the fenders off of that particular saddle.
Just one way to hold on to that memory forever!

Since it was a saddle that I would never ride (not my style), I sold the saddle but kept the fenders to display.  Hubby made me a custom saddle with all the lettering etc and I will never sell it.

If I was ever fortunate enough to win one--this is EXACTLY what I would do.

My daughter has won 20+ trophy saddles.  She has sold all of them except for a few.  She kept the ones that mean the most to her.  I have won several myself and only have 2 of mine left.  It is a personal preference on what you want to do.  Trophy saddles do not sell for as much as name brand saddles. So don't be surprised when you find out how hard they are to sell.  good luck on your decision.

Haven’t won one yet - but to me it depends on the saddle.

1 - sentimental value, is the horse I won it on super special, was the race a very tough one or was it for a year end rodeo finals award etc?

2 - usefulness. Does it fit me? Is it good quality that fits a horse well, even if it doesn’t fit any of them today?

I’d keep one that holds sentimental value to me, even if it doesn’t fit. At minimum I’d keep the fenders.

I’d keep one that was a high quality brand if it fit me, even if it didn’t fit any horses at the moment.

If I had three of the exact same saddle I would definitely sell one of them.

They are your saddles do what you want with them. Sadly I have won two saddles that never materialized!!!???? Don’t you just hate it when they saddles to D winners but they don’t have them? My mare has won a couple with my trainer riding. She needed a wider gullet for her stallion so she got one. The other one had a seat too small for my fat butt so I let her have that one too. I just think that saddles need to be used. I did get a beautiful custom saddle rack out of that last deal so it is sitting in the living room.

i had 6- got tired of dusting them. & my truck needed some work done to it- so i took them to auction & got my truck done instead-
I have pictures from when i won them & thats enough for me.
I did get a good bit of $ for selling them at a sale- it was worth not dealing with the hassle of people & shipping
