My family lives in Wilmington..........we are worried. In 1999 Hurricane Floyd just about wiped out my mother's house..........I do not think the house will be there after this weekend and she lives on a tidal creek not anywhere near the beach. Of course, all the family members have left their homes and gone to higher ground.  Between the rain and storm surge, it is not going to be good. It is hard to believe that some people have chose to stay on the beach.......STUPID people.

I agree with you! if we were closer to coast (93 miles from wilmington) i would have loaded up and gone inland. Theres actually a few people I know that are riding it out, outside of jacksonville, NC with their horses. (ps i think they are crazy!!!! but thats me)
Fingers crossed the house will be ok, but at least they evac'd

It slowed down a lot before making land fall.  The biggest problem we face now will be the flooding.
We are 60 miles from the coast.  Stayed put with all the livestock;  too many to move.  Have already
been out fixing gates/fence that a tree fell on.
We'll be soaked, but ok.
