Just looking into insurance options and for my truck insurance Geico is the cheapest, I'm looking at Progressive too. But when trying to find an insurance quote I don't know what tab to click on, RV's or what? Who do you all use to insure your trailer?

We have our LQ insured on our vehicle policy thru Farm Bureau. Can't remember how much it is. . .

I've had my horse trailers on my auto policy. I dumped Progressive for a couple of reasons...one because they had no idea what a horse trailer was, and two because I don't feel inclined to give them my business because some of their "ideals" do not line up with mine and I don't care to have my money used for that.
I had mine with small company called Upland Mutual for a while. They specialized in ag insurance and allowed me to insure my pickup as ag/farm use and wrote a policy for my trailer. I have switched to Shelter because we switched our home-owners policy to them and they offered incentives for combos, and I've not had any complaint, but also never had a claim. Both places wanted the VIN, brand, length and dollar amount for the replacement cost I want to insure. I do not insure it as an RV--try to insure it as an ag use trailer. Your pickup/auto policy should carry the liability.

Most companies will allow you to list it on your vehicle insurance, however it may be cheaper if you list it on your homeowners or personal property insurance. Usually these are ACV (actual cash value) policies for trailers, which means depreciation will be deducted. Make sure you have both OTC (other than collision) and Collision on the trailer. If it has full living quarters it will be classified as a RV. Check with Farm Bureau, State Farm etc. They usually understand horse trailer insurance.

I have my truck and trailer insured through Geico. Its easier just to contact them. It'll most likely be under RV, I think thats what they did with mine. I have a 3 horse slant exiss with weekender. Its $40 every 6 months for full coverage.

My auto is thru mercury but they don’t offer trailer so I use progressive. No problems with them and my 2017 LQ is about 100.00 a year.

My brother owns his own insurance agency. His agency writes for several different companies. He shops our home/vehicle insurance for the best deal as he has several companies to choose from. My trailer is under our vehicles, and I get the best deal he can find. Find an insurance that can shop around from different companies.

Mine is on my auto policy through State Farm. I didn't price shop for the trailer, but they've been similar or lower on all of our vehicles plus have great customer service. They're always very helpful with any claims and we have a relationship so we stay.

Ours is insured under Personal Property Insurance with State Farm. It was cheaper than putting in on our auto policy, or adding it to, however they do that.

But Arena Rat makes a good point that you want to make sure you have OTC Coverage.
