I have a horse with chronic colic and it seems to happen most often the two weeks following a hoof trimming (though he rarely acts sore afterwards). I have spent $2600 on diagnostics to identify what issue he has (rectals, bloodwork x2, gastroscopy x2, abdominal ultrasounds, abdominal radiographs, and a month of Gastrogard just in case) (Thank God for major medical coverage) and it all came back clear/healthy...and he still colics from time to time. 4.5 weeks is the longest stretch we have been colic-free since July. We've assumed it is maldigestion and gas colic based on his symptoms, so he is on senior feed, Assure Guard Gold and Relyne GI, the round bale now has a Hay Chix net, and he's being given salt as well.

I ordered CBD pellets from Hope Botanicals today to give it a shot in case there may be some sort of pain issue surrounding his feet, even though he rarely acts sore after a trim. Worth a shot. He's a super nice horse. I want to figure it out.

What types of issues have you used CBD pellets or oils on and what were your results?

Ive only used them for a horse that needed to relax and focus. Keep us posted if they  help. I will add that I had a horse that gas coliced on me several times a year. A good 30 day treatment of the old fasting THE Gastroplus helped him a ton.

His scopings show no ulcers, and Gastrogard treatment made no change. He is a very sensitive, nervous type of personality, though.

Speaking of which, the 25% off sale we're doing at Hope Botanicals has been extended, but tomorrow she will be taking the sale down.  So last call on any orders!

Vets didn’t think Forco was sufficient. He was on it. Had me switch to Assure Guard Gold (pre and pro biotics, psyllium, and enzymes). Out all day and access to hay all day along with pasture. Fecal had low egg count 30-45 days ago and wormed with Equimax to be sure. 4 vets are collaborating. Possibly something hindgut but not sure what specifically.

Zero lameness. Looks great. Perfect body condition. Never lost condition as this started. No diarrhea. Drinks well. Never goes off feed. It has to be something.

Yes.  We sell the CBD softgels.  They are pure, no THC, highest quality available.  I swear by them since I would not be sleeping at night if it weren't for them.  (Orthopedic doc has me on prescription anti inflammatories since both knees are bone on bone, but still could not sleep at night due to the one aching so much at night.  The CBD soft gels stopped that completely.  We also carry the tincture, but I like the softgels personally).  Can be ordered through the webpage or through me.  www.hopebotanicals.com

Since July, we have tried 3 different feeds: regular 12/10 extruded, 10/12 low starch, and now senior. It's made by a local mill. I have not tried the mineral oil. The Assure Guard Gold (that costs an arm and a leg) does have the psyllium in it and he gets that daily. Last vets could conclude is it sounds like "maldigestion with or without colon displacement" during these occurrences. But, again, nothing diagnostics-wise has indicated any issues, so I'm trying to branch out and see if perhaps this is some sort of hidden pain response. The horse is highly sensitive type.

Got any feed tags on them?  I had a horse mild colic on me a few times and when I switched feeds she (knock on wood) has been good.  Having the Psyllium is good...  Does he drink good to keep everything going in there?

He gets this...(1/2 scoop twice daily...easy keeper)
http://www.mid-southfeeds.com/p/Equine/supreme-senior

I board, so my options are limited.

He drinks very well. He's in the pasture most all day, so I don't have a real ability to monitor intake precisely, but when I turn him out every night after his grain, he goes to the trough and drinks it down a great deal. I have been giving him salt in his feed also, just in case, but...

With ours, I saw it within a few days max. Customers are telling me they are seeing the same. One said she ran out and hadn't reordered & regretted it - horse was lame (that one was arthritis issues) again but once she got her back on them, she was good again.
Many brands have fillers, etc And many companies do not test their products & especially will not allow the public to see any of those tests. Whatever company you might choose, make sure it's the highest purity & testing to back it.
