Hopefully I don't sound like a complete idiot, but tell me I'm not the only one who, no matter what they do, one stirrup always feels longer thna the other?? My hips are off kilter and I have scoliosis, so I'm not sure if when I sit in the saddle, one leg draws up higher than the other or what? I dealt with it when I was in my early 20s but since getting back into barrel racing after having kids I've found it drives me absolutely insane and really screws with my balance.

Any suggestions to remedy this???

I don't have this problem, but you'll need to adjust your stirrups to fit each leg.  Instead of 4 holes down (or whatever) on both sides, one might be 3 and the other 4.  OR you might have to get a hole punched that's 1/2 way in between.    You might have to go to a leather shop to find a punch big enough, OR punch several holes out to fit.

I have had it in the past where we found out the tree was broke which causes a crooked feeling. Also where the stirrup leathers weren't cut evenly, so had to do the mis-matched sides on length.  Couple things to check anyways.

Thanks! I've tried putting them on uneven holes and it just doesn't work. I'll have to see what shops near me could punch a hole half way in between.....I'll check and make sure the stirrup leathers arent cut unevenly too. I'm positive it's not the tree.
Thanks for your suggestions!

I do and like the other poster said I adjust each stirrup differently. This does two things it keeps people from using my saddle and adjusting the stirrups because they can never get them even and kelps with my balance. It did however take be a couple tries to get them even.

Sometimes your leather will stretch more on one side than the other after a while. In my case I put more pressure on my right side than my left so it has stretched more. I have a bad knee on my left so I don't put a lot of pressure on that side.

Nearly every time I get on, it feels like that to me. Doesn't matter which saddle I use, feels like one is longer than the other.
I adjust to fit me.

If I have that issue I just adjust both stirrups so that they're comfy.

If I have that issue I just adjust both stirrups so that they're comfy.

The problem is one always feels off. No matter how many ways I adjust. I did shorten them last weekend and that seemed to help. I still need to take the saddle to have some extra holes put in.

Your stirrup leather can stretch both from mounting your horse and from uneven pressure.  Most likely though if your stirrups are even you have tight muscles on one side that isn't allowing full extenion of your leg.  Have you tried utlizing some leg and lower back stretches prior to riding to see if that made things easier?

My hips are off kilter which could be a lot of it. I do a lot of leg stretches 3x a week after spin class. I could also ask my chiro to make sure to do a specific adjustment that helps when my hips get all put of whack. That may help too!
