I guess I didn't realize that BB was putting fish oil in their feed. No wonder mine went off of that feed. Why would they do that? I don't see horses eating fish.

readytorodeo - 2019-02-09 12:41 PM I had the rep and their nutritionist tell me I was feeding too much. Decreased the amount and she is not finishing it. Have put her on Gastrogard but now I’m considering changing to Zesterra. Just in case it’s hind gut ulcers. But until she stopped eating the Omega Force, never had a issue with her eating. I wonder if they changed formulations or if the fish oil could be causing issues with horses going off it. I was told they never have issues with horses not eating it.
Contact your rep - seriously, BB is great and easy to work with if a bag is "off" or if your horse just won't eat it. I've been feeding it for a few years and love it. Instead of changing gastrogard and zesterra - it is truly worth the time and money it to get a vet to scope for ulcers if you think that is a problem and why your horse is going off feed.
She was eating the Omega Force. But suddenly went off it. Started back to eating it, but takes sometimes 2 hours to finish. There is no rep for this area. So BB keeps referring me to a rep that really doesn’t care because it’s not her area. The store where the feed was bought has a owner that is rude and thinks that a horse going off the feed is not a concern. So I’m pretty much done with Bluebonnet. I just bought a new bag of Omega Force and B.B. will not take it back. And I’m sure not going back to the store where it was bought due to their rude employees and owner
That doesnt sound like Bluebonnet at all to not make it right. So the feedstore wont take the bag back? Sounds like a feedstore issue not a bluebonnet issue.

Agreed, I would not be blaming BlueBonnet over you having a issue with the feedstore owners. BlueBonnet stands behind their products.. Call the home office of BlueBonnet..

I think I'd be finding a new feedstore and feed then. I've never not had a feedstore take back any unopened feed sacks.. both my feed stores have taken back opened sacks because I wasnt happy with it and replaced it for free. First time I've heard of bluebonnet not making it right for a customer.

I am looking for another feed. And feedstore. Purina is easy to get and so is Nutrena and Triple Crown. Triple Crown Sr has way too much molasses. And from what I understand Nutrena is not a safe feed. May go back to Ultium or try Renew Gold Sr. Really think Blue Bonnet should take back this unopened sack of feed and reimburse me. But doesn’t look like that is going to happen.

Triple Crown is made at Blue Bonnet... I have never had trouble with them not taking feed back, as a matter of fact, I purchased 15 bags of feed from the one feed store (no longer go there) and first 3 bags were moldy... contacted BB and they had me bring it in and replaced all 15 bags... What city is your feed store in?  you can pm me if you don't want to disclose that... but it truly sounds like your feed store is being difficult.... ( it was a storage issue with my old feed store, because the feed wasn't but 2 weeks old)  they charged the feed store.

I fed Omega Force for 2 years almost but when it went up to 27 bucks a bag, I found something compairable for alot less.  I absolutely loved the feed, horses loved it, and they looked great... just a cost thing for me with 7 head

You may not know this - but fish oil is used in many products as an easily digestible source of omega fats (good fats).

This is a great, simple article from The Horse explaining the uses and why :) Hope this helps you understand why a company would use fish oil.

BlueBonnet would take the unopened and open sack of feed back from you and reimburse you, any good BlueBonnet dealer will do this, just sounds like this feed store and you have issues with each other.. I have taken a few open sacks of BlueBonnet feed back to the feed store I buy from once because I didnt think the feed smelled right, she had no problem at all with it and did it with a smile, but it was me not the feed to come to find out, I even called the Nutritionist at BlueBonnet and she explained the feed to me, lol..She was great to talk to and I learned even more from her.. So if it was a good BlueBonnet dealer they should not have a problem taken the feed back.. Where is this store at that they wont take the feed back? I can let someone that works for BlueBonnet know about them and maybe they will talk to he store owner.

Go to BlueBonnets site and you can read about the feed you are feeding, it will list all the Ingredients for you, befor I feed any feed I read the ingredients to see whats in the feed.. I'm always reading ingredients, I'm always curious whats in the feed I'm feeding.

BBs website has a plethora of good information on their feeds.. even lists NSC of each of their feeds. I love that they are such a transparent company and list everything.

BlueBonnet is really the only one that does this, I have to look and look and look to find what I'm looking for when looking at a different feed company. They are a proud feed company and like helping when they can.. They make is so easy

Just had my BB rep stop in today and replace the 2 bags I had that were "off"- no questions asked. I would find out who the BB rep is in your region and go through them- I would find it impossible that they would not replace it for you- they are a great company to work with.

I was told yesterday that the feed was 9 months old. Per the rep it is stale and the fat rancid. No one knows why the feed was sold that old. No wonder she wouldn’t eat. Bluebonnet is blaming it on the store and store blames Bluebonnet. Neither one wants to be accountable. Called this morning to speak to the GM at Bluebonnet. Was told I needed to leave message and he would call . Just called
again. Had to leave another message. That feed should have never been sold.

It's the feedstores responsibility to make sure they keep fresh feed, any decent free store keeps track of inventory and dates on the feed they order, it's their responsibility. Blaming the manufacturer is a joke in this case. My feedstore accidentally sold me 4 bags of expired feed, the owner called me before I got down the road and told me to return the bags. That feedstore sounds terrible.. dump them and move on. As far as Bluebonnet goes, it's still strange to me they haven't reached out to you.

I think they are hoping that I will forget about it. If the store is not willing to do what’s right then Bluebonnet should.
