Anyone have experience with either in the barrel pen?

We are considering breeding a race bred mare to a son of either of those.

I'd go with Dual Pep.  #1 Resale value is greater, whether that is your intention or not. With our experiences Dual Pep's are much more athletic. The PIW are big, thick horses that have a hard time getting out of their own way.  Great for ranch work, not so much when agility is needed.

I would go with Dual Pep.  I had a Paddys Irish Whiskey and you couldn’t get him out of a lope.  Not athletic.

Lots of good PIW horses in the barrel pen. Two just placed 8th and 9th on Monday to advance to the Semi-Finals at The American, out of PIW mares.

Irish Pay offspring won over $40k at Pink Buckle I believe.

When we started colts in TX we were around and rode enough Dual Pep's you couldn't give me one. One of the very few bloodlines we didn't get along with. Never rode a PIW but there are enough at the top level, that is the way I would go

I've heard great things about both lines, but I only have personal experience with the PIW horses. They were all athletic, willing to please, and from my experience they were all very tall and lean, quick footed but sensible. PIW is more well known in the rodeo/ranching industry, whereas DP seems to be more well represented in the cutting and working cow world.

It's funny that both stallions share the same sire (PSB), and PIW's damsire is Doc Bar, whereas DP's damsire is a son of Doc Bar, as well as the second dam is a daughter of Doc Bar.

I might be wrong, but I’m thinking Sheena Robbins horse she qualified to the NFR on, Bar D Mr Duel Olena, aka Shorty, is Duel Pep bred.

I get along with dual peps really well. They are one of my favriotes to ride. So Id lean that way my self.

Im indifrent to PIW I'd rather have a grays starlight or rooster though he's my least favriote of the brothers. I don't dislike him but I just like the others more.

However a lot would depend on the mares the potential stallions are out of because even though they are very different they are simillary breed.

They are both accomplished horses and proven producers is several events I would pick the one that complments your mare the most.

I have a Dual Pep grandson by Rey Dual who’s also out of a PSB great granddaughter.

He’s quick footed and turny.  Easy to get along with, but has a sassy personality.  He clocks about the same relative to the the top dogs in big or small pens and continues to leave room to improve.

We also heel and breakaway on him and he’s a really fun pole horse.

i have no experience with PIW, but I’d take another DP - especially if he was a couple inches taller.

We have a PIW out of a full sister to Stingray. She is the most willing mare we have ever had. Very talented and very fast. As always, depends on the mare that they are out of. She is pretty stocky built, but uses herself very well.

PIW would be my pick. I think I am going to breed my Judge Cash daughter to a son of Paddy this year.

Have you chosen the stud yet? Jesses Topaz is super nice, along with Irish Pay.

Would love a Jesse's Topaz, someday! Can't say enough good things about my Irish Pay gelding.

A close friend of mine stands a son of PIW. She doesnt advertise much, mostly just word of mouth. My other close friend purchased a filly by him as a 3 year old. She is 5 this year and she has started entering her. I have been impressed! He has several other offsprrng that are just going into training and they all look promising. This is my only experience with PIW but I would own one for sure. The stud she stands is "Mountain Whiskey". I took this picture of him a few years ago:

We are breeding a mare to him (Jesses Topaz) this spring- her sire was a local son of The Signature out of a daughter of Dash For Cash, and her dam is a granddaughter of Dash For Cash. I am super excited!

Those Irish Pay babies are way nice, I bet yours is a looker and smart!

I misspoke above. The mare is by PIW and out of a full sister to Dinero.
