I'm looking at a couple of prospect.....  daughters of FF & JC. Not sure which way to go.... have never owned either one. I've always ridden geldings, but want to try a mare and still have some value incase something should ever happen to them down the road.

Any input on either line would be appreciated

Resale value is low on JC for what they are and what it costs to get them on the ground.

Both are wonderful sires.  Fabs should be bred to barn burner, fast mares.  Don't know that much about Judge Cash offspring, but I think having a mare by JC would be a great value.

I've heard a few things about the JC horses.... not sure if they are "myths" as I have never had one.

I heard if you get a good one they are really good, but if you get a bad one they are bad?

Mares are hotter and heard they can buck?

Anyone have any experience with them? Good, bad?

We bred a REALLY nice, proven producer to JC twice and got two nice fillies. As much as I liked those fillies, they sold for 25% of what their Frenchman's Guy and DTF siblings did. Neither filly competed, to the best of my knowledge. I honestly don't know if it was just bad luck or that we should have "sat" on them longer to prove them. I thought they were nice...but they just didn't work out. I still love JC but, all other things being equal, I am forced to say that I'd lean toward an FF. (Emphasis: "all other things being equal")

I have never owned a JC horse, however, I have to run against them and they seem to kick butt and be well minded!

IMO if you are going to buy it and ride it I'd go with a Judge Cash filly over a Frenchmans Fab filly. It's a different conversation if you are talking for breeding and reselling because I agree with what a few other people have said, the return on a JC is not there for what it costs to get one on the ground. However, if you are looking for a futurity prospect, in your shoes, I'm leaning JC but the dam side would be my tie breaker if both are equally nice. A fab on anything other than DTF daughter is not that interesting to me, personally.

Thanks for your input.....  would you go run with a JC filly on the bottom side? I'm looking for a prospect to compete with. Not into breeding... BUT if something should happen I would have a broodmare to sell.

I personally love both. I have had several sons and daughters of Judge Cash and currently have a daughter in my broodmare band. They have all had the similar trait of being so agreeable to work with and loved having a job. The other common trait was big bone and feet. I wish I would have bred more to him earlier in his life.

I bred to Fab for the first time in 2017 and I have a really nice yearling daughter out of a Dash Ta Fame daughter. I'm getting ready to send her out to get conditioned and fitted for the BFA sale. She is super sweet, really well put together and has been pretty easy to work with. I would actually really like to breed my Judge Cash daughter to Fab next year.

I have a Judge Cash daughter and love, love, love her. Very light, very responsive, and smart. She is my favorite horse to ride (and I have 10). You will not regret getting one.
