We are looking at taking my stepson snow skiing for his graduation present next year, and I know NOTHING about it.  Does anyone have any experience they are willing to share, places they can reccomend.  Below are some questions/details:

We don't own any gear, so I know we would need to rent.  What all do you rent besides the obvoius board/skis/poles?  Jacket and pants?  Boots?  Like, can I wear my wild rag and Carhartts?  (kidding.....kinda)

Needs to be a place that he can snowboard.

Will be sometime over his spring break (March 21-29).  Not sure how  many days yet.  That will depend on price I'm sure.  I would say somewhere between 3-5.

Prefer Colorado, as we live in central AR and plan on driving.

When is the best time to book?  What are the best resorts for the value?  Do you do all-inclusive?  He will prob want to be on the snow every day.  His Dad and I will most likely take a beginner lesson, go once or twice, and call it good lol.

ANY advice is greatly appreciated!

You will need your own clothes, I have never heard of renting those. There will be lots of skii shops in and around whatever resort you choose. Late march is kind of on the boarder for snow conditions. I would stay away from " Posch" places like VAIL etc if your on a budget. There are lots of other resorts near by much cheaper. If you are willing to go to UTAH rather than Colorado, I can give a lot more information and where to go etc.

Thanks!  I don't think we could do Utah since we want to drive.

If anyone has suggestions of non-posh places, please share them!

Any resort in the central CO Rockies will be posh. Vail owns Breckinridge and I think Keystone?? Tickets at Breck are around $200 per day per person. Loveland is cheaper. But you have to drive about 50 miles from Denver.

Down south in CO is slightly cheaper. Here’s a list of the CO ski areas, where they are and most have websites attached. Eldora might not be bad. I’ve never skied there though.

You might look into New Mexico. I know a lot of people go there and really enjoy it.
