Have you had muscle wasting either in the shoulders or hips and if so did it come back after treatment?

Yes, but it’s been very slight , some people wouldn’t notice it.

There’s a Protozoa called Fayreii that causes muscle wasting, not necessarily numerological  problems. It spreads differently than S. nuerona and Hughsei . It doesn’t have a terminal host like the other two, it reporoduces indefinitely in any type of host.

There'a also another parasite to cause similar symptoms of EPM. It's Trypanosoma cruzi spread by insect vectors esp. the kissing beetle. Unless they are looking for it let your nearest teaching hosp. know you want your horse tested for this.

I've trained several horses that have contracted EPM it is very bothersome in my area and I hear of 1-2 cases per week. Catching the subtle signs and quickly treating it is key.

Several of the young futurity colts had complete recovery. I felt like they would have been 1D in the careers but ended up 2D.

Lots of VitE and using Biomos has helped us.

Two: One never recovered the muscle, the other had the muscle come back after treatment and excerise.

I looked it up and Wow! as if we dont have enough crap already!  Horse is not doing any the signs or symptoms of that parasite!  I believe it truly is EPM and I know their are different strands and that they are learning more and more bout this awful disease!  He has had all the tests for epm except the spinal one and they all came back high titers.   We have fought epm for very long time and it was not caught early!  But he has recovered ea time but he has never had lose of muscle in shoulder and face.  I was just wondering if it could come back if treatment works.  If not he will still be beautiful to me! and a huge thank you to liana for helping me along way!  thank you for responses!  My cousin had a horse when I was in jr high and he had severe muscle wasting and it was fast and they put him down.  They knew it was epm but didn't have what we have today! So this time around I am worried! buy gotta have faith no matter what!

In my opinion it depends on your horse as far as the best treatment.  But on the other hand they are saying from the Florida research that their are different stands/parasites so maybe what works depends on the stran/parasite you have but how they tell have no clue.  But have seen what works on one horse dont work on another. My vet believes in switching treatment like switching wormers.  Then I wonder if there is different strans/parasite once infected with one is it easy to be infected by another kind and that's why the meds you used the first time didn't work the 2nd time.  And maybe not really relapses but infected again.  My horse has had 3 tests done and all 3 showed positive this was bout 6-7 years ago,  I've had lots of the syptoms too execpt the leaning on the wall.  This is the first time that I've had muscle wasting/deterioation.

Just wanted to let you all know that this Friday Dec. 27th my horse is going to be staying with Superior Therapy!  I got to watch and help for 3 days to see what her program is about!  It is the calmest barn I have been too lol  Its probably bc them horses know they are getting pampered.   But it is also work for them!  We put my horse with epm on the aquatread and what an eye opener!  I have a video on my fb page and in the next level page too.  I got to see horses for the first time to get on the tread and they would be a little unsteady for the first couple steps and then they have no problems.  My horse Summer had to hold his neck to help him balance pretty much the whole time he was on! and he kept throwing his head up and shaking it off and on and he was stepping on all four legs in different directions and was stepping really hard on all four!  He was really struggling for balance.  I put this horse on 90 day treatment and found a feed program that works for him right now and hope it continuse to work.  He has been off the treatment bout 30 days I think.  I thought I could ride this horse no problem but I didnt know bout the barrels.  When I watched my horse on the tread there is no way that he needs to be rode right now!  But if you was to watch him in the pasture you would think he was fine!  he been running and bucking over his head and feels really good!  the aquatread was a huge eye opener and if I hadnt watched the other horses for their first time I would have thought of its just his first time he just got to get used to it!  But no he really is bad!! I realized how much try my horse has! and I am so glad that the last run I had on him that I pulled up in the middle of my first barrel turn bc I could feel he wasnt right! In the video you have have thought he just ran past his first barrel and was going to turn wide.  But feeling was a whole another thing!  at the time I didnt understand what I was feeling til I saw him on the tread.  That run was bout 5-6 mths ago right before his epm episode which I think was the start of it again and bc it was different symptoms took me bout 2 mths of figuring out that there is another strain!

I am going to post his progress on my youtube channel (Shelly Hares)

Also it will not be just the aquatread that he will get  He will also get pemf treatments and be worked outside when its time and Im not sure what all  It is different for all the horses just depends on what they are there for.

I will post as much video as I can.  I will be there 2 days a week and post weekly on my channel.  I will post good or bad.  I dont know if I will ever be running barrels again on him but I know he needs to be better than he is on strength wise!

Summer is an amazing teacher!  That is another reaston why I am so excited bc she loves to teach and I will be able to continue to help my horse when he comes home!

I had to treat my EPM horse twice. I keep him on T.H.E. EPM Formula (Now it's mixed in with the Muscle Mass).

I would test him again and see if he has relapsed.
