What color would you register him as?

Sire and dam both buckskin.  So double dilute possibility

Has two blue eyes but has a white star that is definitely visible.

 Palomino with blue eyes?

I usually don’t take a chance on one ever being double dilute so I still get confused between

Perlino and Cremello.........

He is by a son of ASOF and out of a Sun Frost/Lone Drifter bred mare so all AQHA.

The only question in my mind is perlino or cremello.  I think cremello.

Yep he is fancy! Thanks! Wouldn’t change anything on his class or style.......

So can someone tell me what is the difference between Perlino and Cremello?

With his white star very visible as a newborn I was hoping maybe Palomino, but his nose is quite pink lol.

Appreciate the help.

If I remember right Cremello is the double dilute of a palomino.

Perlino is the double dilute of a buckskin, so the blackpoints will have an orange tint, including the skin.

I was going to say palomino.  Buckskins love to throw them.

This is what I have been tolded and learned over the years, A Cremello will have a white mane and tail, A Perlino will have darker points that are kinda Orangish.

Is this baby's tail and mane white? He's built like a little power house, good looking boy I'm going to say Cremello, hes got really white mane and tail and his legs don't have any orangish tint to them.

Register as cremillo and if AQHA feels that is not correct they will contact you.

The only way to be sure of his color is to get him tested.  He is a double dilute, so could be a perlino or cremello.  I have learned that they must be tested and cannot rely on visually inspecting them.

He is a perlino.

A cremello is a double dilute of red.  A perlino is out of black based parents.

Think of it like this:

You have a bay that carries 0 creme genes and 2 black based genes.

Bay + 1 cream = buckskin 1 cream/1black

Bay + 2 cream = perlino 2 cream/0 black

Sorrel = 0 cream and 2 red based

Sorrel + 1 cream = palomino  1 cream/1 red

Sorrel + 2 cream = cremello  2 cream/0 red

It looks like he has a red based tint to his tail.

He is definitely double dilute.  It can be hard to tell between a cremello and a perlino, I have a cremello mare so I've done a bit of research to understand the difference better myself.  From my understanding, a perlino is a double dilute with a dominate black gene.  Cremello is a double dilute with a red gene.  Buckskins have the black gene with the cream gene, palominos have the red gene with the cream gene.  So my filly is by a buckskin stud and a palomino mare and AQHA classified her as cremello.

So that being said, since both parents are buckskin I would call your colt a perlino.  But I'm not an expert, just an amateur researcher lol
