I have some friends their daughter gave birth yesterday and they obviously cannot have any visitors. The baby had to go in the NICU because she was having trouble breathing. So scary ... and then you throw in this virus and it's even more scary, being in the hospital with a newborn... I know they have the very best protocols in place but still it's got to be unnerving!

So, I'm hoping and wondering at the same time what we are all going to take away from this when the dust settles.. more preparedness? I know for myself and our family.... I will make it a point to grow a stockpile of necessities, nothing outrageous... just extra bottled waters, Clorox wipes, lysol, my garden is planted and I definitely plan on breaking out my canning stuff and can more. I've taken it for granted. I'm going to invest in another deep freeze and probably a better generator, we haven't had to use the one we have, thankfully, but it's old and needs some love I'm sure. I dont want to be over the top prepper lady, but I definitely want to feel secure and not worry about the basics.

Same! I'm definitely planting a garden this year and I've been contemplating getting a few chickens!

I sure hope that baby will pull through!

Growing up my mom and grandma always had a small stockpile of non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, toiletries and such. They kept a close eye on the sales, and when things went on sale they would get some extra.
And everytime they used something it would go on the grocery list for next time. That way we could survive for weeks on end if we needed to. Guess growing up in Europe through/after the war that was a habit of them. Now I am so glad they did, and even if I got a bit away from it we still have enough in the house to not have to worry for a while.

Also, having a freezer full of meat (bought 1/4 of a calf not too long ago) and having chickens running around does help.
And we used to have a little vegie garden, but convenience and not enough time in the day made us neglect that. We might just start that back up again.

The only thing we would like but have not gotten yet is a generator for the house. We have 1 that the hubby uses for his welding, and the lq trailer has one, so we have some options in case of an emergency.

Eta, I got send home yesterday, but so far my husband is still working. Not sure when we will go back to work, but till then I guess the horses and dog will get more attention. Might just have to start spring cleaning while I am home.

Our company (family owned) sells aircraft components to the likes of Boeing, Lockheed, Cessna, Northrop Grumman and many others so we have no choice but to stay open as we are considered essential.  A lot of our staff is working from home (or watching TV).  I'm not because I have my own office and our building is very spacious and clean.  It will most certainly hit us financially sooner or later because of slowdowns.

Why would Meep.meep think this is funny?????

I assumed (I know, I shouldn't do that) because of supporting the aircraft industry.

She's generally just very cheerful and upbeat, I think.  It's her way of lifting the mood. Just my guess.

My husband is active duty Air Force and he is deployed. Thanks to the Secretary of Defense, his now being delayed coming home by around 90 days due to a no travel overseas order, and that is not a guaranteed time frame and it may very well be longer. Us moving to Arizona has been on hold. Us fixing up and selling our house has been put on hold. All of our travel plans to try and figure out where we want to live in AZ has been pushed back.. to what date, I don't know.

All I have to say is I am super ****ed, along with the other 90,000 families that this has affected. I think the thing that annoys me the most is so many people preach that they support the troops, yet people are hoarding and thinking about themselves, and it is almost like the military and their families have been forgotten.

I say now, and I'm not saying this directly to any of you, because for those who are NOT staying home.. Please do. Because the sooner we get this under control, the sooner our troops can come home to their loved ones and families.

I am so sorry all your plans have been put on hold.  I know I am the biggest complainer on here about war.  Please don't think that I don't support our troops, or what your husband does.  I actually have got in a lot of disgreements about our troops, I would perfer to keep them out of harms way.

Not supporting a war is not to disrespect our troops in any way.  I'm so terribly upset over our governments reaction to what our guys go through with roadside bombs, I could hurt someone myself.  Just because they don't look hurt doesn't me they don't have trauma and to call it a headache just makes me mad.  If we're going to send them we better take care of them.

Thank your husband for me and I'm so sorry.  Hang in there.

I live on the border of 2 states.  KY with a democrat governer (and a broke state) took it more serious than IN (not broke state) with a republican.  The numbers seem to show.  Both states are on lock down, but they have so many exceptions no one is paying any attention and going about there business.

I have been taking this kind of serious since 3/7 with very few trips to town.  Finally told my husband if he didn't quit working he could live in the guest house next door.  He has been off since 3/20, he thought I was nuts till he started watching and paying attention to the news and watching Trump's press conferences (all news we watched FOX tonight LOL) now he's glad he's home.  I may not be crazy at all.

I work for a company that services big trucks. We are busier than ever. I was put on shorter hours a few weeks ago but with the increased volume of work there is no way I can work less. Out of 50 stores in the company from DC north to Vermont and most in PA, our store is in the top 5 $$'s right now, and we are one of the smallest in footprint and # of techs. We sent all 4 techs out with multiple road calls by 8am yesterday morning!

There will be no staying home for me unless I get sick. The weather has generally been beautiful so I'm a little jealous of those posing how much they've been riding! I have a yearling and two yo who would benefit greatly if I could be home. But I also appreciate the blessing of not having my life thrown into chaos any more than it has to be.
