Does anyone feed hay cubes in the trailer? I don't normally feed cubes but I'm wondering if they'd make less mess in the manger, and obviously not blow around.

Do you soak them or feed them as is? I have no experience with them.

I almost ALWAYS fill my hay bags with normal hay before I leave, but I do add soaked cubes in a bucket to my guys before long hauls. Keeps water in their system and its a less dusty version of feeding in the trailer.

I would not feed hay cubes dry in the trailer - some can choke on them & unless you have a camera back there, you'd never know until you stopped.  I prefer good quality mostly grass hay that I soak in some water so they are getting some moisture in them too.

We used hay cubes many times in the manger of the trailer. That being said, we did moisten them before putting them in. They are a lot less mess than hay in a hay bag. Additonally, if you have the sliding windows open, hay particles tend to blow around near their faces.

I don't and wouldn't especially if you have mangers. Horses need to be able to put their heads down to eat and swallow correctly.

I feed pellets (I have the Proffesional Choice trailer feeders). I don't feed all of them at once.

I'm not sure about cubes though. I would be very cautious, especially if feeding dry. I would be worried about choking, even if you have a camera.

That is my concern with feeding regular hay, is how much of it gets blown around.

Maybe I could wet the hay down so it doesn't blow as much
