Location: Sweet Home Alabama | Hey y'all! I'm looking for some info on the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo. My husband and I were talking about taking a few weeks off and going up to Wyoming and Montana and exploring for our anniversary trip. I was looking into tickets for the finals (July 31st). But if I remember correctly, the finals only have 4 people in each event right? I wasn't sure if that would be worth the money, so then I was thinking about getting tickets for the 30th AND the 31st. I see they have concerts and a fair and a whole lot of other things to do. I really just care to watch barrels. I just kinda need info on how the rodeo runs the last few days and how crowded it is around there. And if I should go ahead and book a hotel in Cheyenne those nights? We're looking at going to Cheyenne first, then Jackson Hole, then on to Whitefish Montana, then hit Mount Rushmore on the way home (because that's always been on my bucketlist too). My main question and concern is making sure Cheyenne Frontier Days lines up perfectly for our trip, but any tips or suggestions would be appreciated since we've never been up there! Thank you in advance! |

Location: Displaced Iowegian | Just a hint ...... look at nearby cities of Cheyenne for motels. The motels in Cheyenne will be 3 or 4 times their normal rate during that week. |

If you're going to Jackson I would try and go to Grand Targhee resort. The drive from Jackson to there is really pretty and you can ride the chair lift up to the back side of the tetons. I think it's a little over an hour drive. Also get rooms early if you're going to Cheyenne, My sister waitined too long last year and couldn't get a room. |

Location: Jersey Girl | We went last year (bucket list item). We did not see the finals but went 2 days during the week. It was a great time. We stayed in Laramie because the rooms were so much cheaper. |

Fort Collins is not that far either. I just checked room prices for that week in Cheyenne ...... $300-400+ per night..... |
