First post on the forum so here goes - sorry if this question has already been answered.

I purchased a Playgun bred horse (Drippin Bullets X JJ blue velvet) from Allen Quarter Horses in Saskatchewan. Foxy, as I call her is very talented and I'm thinking about purchasing another playgun bred horse. Will link her pedigree below:

What's your opinion on playgun bred horses? Got any other favs?

Thanks :)

My husband and I have two Playgun granddaughters that we LOVE. They are broodmares, but are quick, agile, great minded, and gentle despite limited handling (they came from a big ranch originally). We are so excited to see what their colts become. One of them has a daughter that made a nice 2D barrel horse in Texas and she was just by a ranch bred stud.

ETA: We also have a friend with a different Playgun bred mare that is a really nice, automatic barrel horse.

I rode a double bred Playgun 4 year old stud for a reining trainer for a bit. He was SO NICE. Fun personality, easy under saddle. Smooth smooth smooth. I wouldn't be afraid of having one in my barn.

I rode about 8 offspring from a playgun son. Some were different mares some were siblings. Common denominator, all were buckers that you couldn't trust. Slow to top it off. Just quirky and will never own another.

I have 2 playgun mares. LOVE playgun. my little one is super catty and gritty, both can wrap a barrel and peel the paint off.

My experience has been the same with Playguns. I'm not a fan even though I've owned several Freckles Playboy horses and rode many more over the years and love them.

I have only rode a couple of them but they put a bad taste in my mouth... enough that I am **** sure weary when I look at anything with the bloodline. (I too have rode lots of Freckles Playboys that I love).

I LOVE Playgun bred horses. We have had 4 foals by Hired Gun (Playgun x Peppy San Badger daughter), and 2 foals by Fiestas Gotta Gun (Playgun x Firewater Fiesta), with a couple more Playgun bred foals in the works. We love to cross them on TB or running bred QH mares, and the resulting foals have been outstanding- great minds, excellent conformation, and crazy athletic. I do think it takes the right mare to make or break a cross, but I would not hesitate to breed more.
