| Looking for suggestions on a saddle that will fit a short, wider and flatter back with long and wide shoulders. I don't have many saddles to try, a LM Nueva has too much rock in the bars, LM Special is too narrow especially in his shoulders, and a Black Rhino has too much rock in the bars also. He's a smaller horse 14.3-15.0 hands, with a pretty short back. He is on the wider side and flatter. His shoulder is long and on the wider side. I don't have pictures but can get some if that would be helpful. I'm trying to figure out what trees I should look into and try, I'm not very familiar with these flat backs. Thanks!

Location: TX | Larry Coats made me a saddle for a wide flat back horse. If you were in north Texas, I'd let you come try it on your pony. |

| Haley, I am also in NW washington(Snohomish county) if that helps. I have a Deb Sibley that has fit my mare really well. I also have a 7 lightweight saddle that fit her flat back well. I just ordered a custom Double J and I am getting a #9 tree with extra flared shoulders. The #9 tree really fit my mare well. It is a 6.5 inch gullet with 45 degree bars and my mare is short backed, flat and has huge shoulders lol. |

| You need an LM WIDE special. The regular special will be too narrow |

Location: Fort Worth / Springtown | I made a post recently about Vernon Purdy/Performance Best Saddles in Greenville TX , if you want to search - or it might be on the 2nd page now. I've had a problem for several years trying to fit my mare like that. Tried several wide saddles, some seemed like they would be the answer, but I would eventually feel that she just couldn't move/turn right in them - Almost got a RP XW and tried it out/rode in it - was not wide enough - I tried to get a custom fit from Robbie, but got ghosted. Vernon's regular tree didn't work quite right, so he made a wider tree for me and I'm in love with this saddle! He has several features that are different - and one of them is that the tree is made to put more weight in the "sweet spot" of the back - my words, not his, but the tree avoids putting concentrated pressure on the front and back of the bars, which definitely helps with short backs, as well. He does add more surface area to the bars so the distribution of weight is still present, just in different areas. She moves more free, finishes her right turn so much better and her back muscles are more supple.

| Thank you I will look into those! I just tried a friend's RP XW, it was also not wide enough and had a little too much rock in the bars. |

Location: Woodstown, NJ | I have a little 13.3 hand QH with thick shoulders, low almost mutton withers, and a short back. None of my saddles worked. I thought I was going to have to resort to a Haflinger saddle or something. My Bob Marshall treeless worked but I had to get a thin pad. |
