| We ended the 30 day treamtment for EPM about a month ago. We never tested him for it, but all the signs were there between weight loss, inability to put on weight, muscle atrophy, dragging of rear toe, etc. I would say that he has improved for sure, but I feel that im still struggling with weight. He is currently on Purina Gastric Care and alfalfa hay. I am not a huge supplement person but I do have him on Equinety, vitamin E, and a gut health supplement. I realize every horse is different, and the south Florida heat can play a role. We are so hot and humid right now. But what have you found that helped bring a horse back around from EPM? | |

Location: Illinois | When MVP came out with their Amino15x I switched to that from Equinety...huge difference. It's got way more in it & I had been using the other for years on different horses. And make sure you're feeding natural vitamin e, 10,000iu/day minimum for a year and then 5,000iu/day for life after that. I use the MVP Natural E, but other brands work just fine as long as its the natural and not synthetic. If you choose to use the cheaper synthetic, I would feed 15,000iu a day because they're going to absorb a much smaller amount than they would natural. Elevate W/S is the best, but very expensive. Mine just eats 1/2 of a 3qt scoop of Kalm N Ez twice a day, and free choice alfalfa in a hay chix net. She's on Gastro-Plex to help prevent her colics, she impacts sometimes because she rarely even can manage to drink 3/4 of a bucket a day with salt on her food. You can add rice bran if you want some weight faster, otherwise it just takes time. It might take 6-8 months to build up to a normal weight. Mine wasn't really skinny, she just looked fitt and lean. Now she is a chonk, but not a fat chonk...a brinck sh*thouse chonk. She's a beast, looks like a bodybuilder. She's going to be so strong when she runs barrels, I'm going to need a magic seat. But I would recommend the Amino15x, it completely changed things for her with her epm. She just completed her ponazuril two days ago, but shes also been on the Eclipse PM through treatment and will be for 4 more months

Have you heard of any success with the E-Clipse'PM supplement from MVP? I cam across is while looking into the 15x. It seems like an all-in-one type supplement for EPM recovery but its pretty pricey.. But im wondering if I would be able to cut out the other supplements if I tried this?

Location: Illinois | A lot of people have had success with it, I have 2 friends that were very happy with it. I am not quite 30 days into it so far, but I'm not seeing anything making me not want to continue. Seems like my mare is dragging her back toes less after the EPM treatment and adding the Eclipse PM, so I will keep using it. I will send you a PM about it if you want to try it out, the vitamin e is necessary for EMP follow up but the aminos are more personal preference/extra bonus. Mostly to help build back muscle atrophy faster if needed, or you cna let them get stronger on their own through their normal diet and exercise. I would still add more vitamin e than what the Eclipse PM has in it, like I said they need at least 10,000iu per day for a year post treatment. The Eclipse provides 4,000iu so you still have to add from another source. The Eclipse is meant to be started with the treatment, but you can add it after the fact & just follow the same directions.

| We are in the big bend of FL where the heat is miserable. I'm feeding my mare the same (Purina) as before she got sick. The only weird aftershock I noticed was her mane and tail lost all its thickness after treatment. | |
