My gelding is lazy and I want to see if there is anything more I can give him to make him more "excited".

He looks great and is well conditioned.

His feed is:

bluebonnet omega force

free choice alfalfa and costal.

Ive heard Red Cell will get out to fire, but horses can only go as fast as they are geneticallty able and Personality will allow! If they are lazy personality wise, nothing will work. Talk to vet about ventipulman as well.

Well, kind of depends on the horse.

I've had "lazy" horses. Sometimes it just takes them longer to come around and figure out that they do actually like it.

My Shotgun was a prime example of that. Super level headed. Always relaxed. He was the type that could sit for 6 months, and then you jump on with a 40 mph wind to go trail ride and he'll walk on a loose rein the whole time. Then magically, about halfway through his 8-year-old year, he found the fire for barrel racing. (and unfortunately some serious lameness problems caught up with him the following year)    Just took him a while to find it.

I did put my horse Red on Red Cell at the end of last year, and kept him on it this year. Maybe it helped? He had his best year ever at the age of 16.

However, I also added CEP daily lung (pellets) for about the last month of the season. I also had him on it at the spring. Now that I think about it, I think that is when he had his very best times. Granted, that is not an energy supplement, but maybe it gave him more air in the tank? I know he's going to be on it next season for sure!

Right, in that there is nothing you can give a horse to make them run faster than they want to. They have to have the HEART to make the run. Can't make 'em do it. But...... does it help putting some pep in their step? Hard to say.

I second Red Cell. I don't use it anymore. Horses start breathing fire lolol.

I also agree on Red Cell. Made my lazy horse start feeling hot to trot.

I like CEP Xcelerate paste. It's a blood builder but there are no added sugars or fillers.

Curious what a Blood Builder is and how that actually works? Is Red Cell also considered a blood builder, I always just thought it was an iron supplement? I have a lazy LAZY horse at home and during practice but he seems to know when it's time to be "on". I've tried various things and nothing quite ever changed his lackadaisical attitude and demeanor. It's just him.

Yes, Red Cell is also a blood builder!

CEP Xcelerate has 20 amino acids in it.

I personally would love a horse that's calm and easy until it's at a race!!!! I think you're lucky!
