The only boots I really like to ride in are Justin ropers - but I aways bought the smooth ostrich or deerskin - cause I didn't like how long it took to break in the kipskin. Justin no longer makes them for women.. and my last  2 pairs have been resoled/ patched as long as they can be. I know it is all personal preference, but wondering if anyone else loved ropers and have found ones the works for them? I don't like crepe (can't fee the stirrups) or boots that the sole is wider then foot.

I would like to know what every one likes also. My Justins are all gone and I have tried different ones. One I liked was Smokey Mountain, but wore out quickly, and can't find any thing like it now. Has any one tried the Ariat ropers? Did not mean to steal your thread, just want to know also.

Boulet hands down! They are handmade and built to last. I wear them daily and they are by far better than any other brand I've worn. And I've worn them all.

boulet, i have the density 2 sole and riders sole (not sure of the exact name), some styles feel broke in right out of the box, others take a few weeks to break in. the soles are not super thick or bulky, I hate bulky. but they are very comfortable and supportive when doing alot of shopping in town and what not. my double h boots are VERY bulky soles. I would not ride in them but they are great for work boots.

I will never understand why Ariat can't finish the seams inside their boots! I like to buy them for everyday because they are cheap but end up having to cover the seams with a couple layers of duct tape or they rub terrible sores on my legs when I ride! Not sure I will ever buy another pair!

I wear only Rocky Branson waterproof boots. Warm in the winter, dry, fit in stirrups great and last for years! They quit making the womens so I wear mens now...the mens 6.5 fit just like the womens 8.5 did. LOVE them!

Oddball here... I ride in my tennis shoes. I never tie them and they slip off pretty easily if I was to get in a wreck.

To compete in I have an old pair of Anderson Bean crepe soles. I only run in them, and before I rode in them they were my "good" boots so they didnt have a whole lot of wear on them. I have two pairs of the Anderson Bean Horsepower square toes that will be demoted next.

I have been suprised at how well my Tin Hauls have held up, but they are expensive.

I am a double H person for sure, but I can't wear womens boots.  Double H doesn't make too many for women anymore.  I can only wear mens and their mens selection is still good.

I have never had a bad pair of Tony Lamas either.  I've never had any luck with Ariat except for the last pair which is a heavy duty work boot, not a riding boot.

I currently only ride in Tony Lama, Corral or Tin Hauls.

I was riding in Lucchese but the ones I have are a rubber sole and I had a horse accident and the rubber soles didn't allow me to get my feet out as quick as I was comfortable with so they are now just going out boots.

Ariat ropers.... They are not made as well as they were originally, but I like the thin rubber sole. I don't use rubber bands and the soles give me good feel, and grip. I am interested in the Boulet that I just read about here though. I had never heard of them but will definitely look into them.

I barrel race in the Ariat ropers. Mainly because they come in a wide width and its hard to find women's boots in a D width.  I trail ride in the Ariat All Terrains because they are more comfortable the the ropers for long rides and they too fit me nicely.

I bought a pair or Tin Hauls over the Summer & I LOVE THEM. I wear them every day, ride in them, feed up in them, wear them all around town. And they're comfy no matter what. I have the Sugar Cube ones, that are purple checkered. They were nice & soft when I bought them & I really like them.

I bought hubby a pair of Tony Lamas two years ago & they're STILL going strong. He wears them out & about & to ride, so they're used a lot. He loves them.

I bought a pair of square toe Justin Gypsys & I really liked them. They held up well. I still have them & wear them around sometimes.

LOVE my Boulets! Best boots I've ever had and super worn out now but still going strong. They are leather soled and I'm actually surprised I haven't walked holes in the bottoms of them yet, that's usually the first thing to go on my boots.

Very dangerous. You could slip thru the stirrup and be dragged. Please reconsider doing this. Crepe soles also dangerous to ride in. I'm a stuckler on correct riding footwear. Only leather doled boots are acceptable.

I've never had a problem with my crepe soles slipping through the stirrup. They are a lot slicker than one thinks, especially more so than the fatboy ones. They are pull ons. My horse fell with me at a rodeo one time at left me sitting in the dirt by the first barrel. My boot was still in my stirrup..

Crepe soles are usually wide and thick. Which is why they aren't safe IMO. The fact that hours was left in the stirrup substantiate my point. I love them but don't ride in them for this reason. Imagine if they had been lace up. Getting hung up scares the crap out of me and that's one reason I'm so adamant about riding only in leather soles. I even put tapaderos on my daughters saddle because of my concerns.

Wanted to add that fat babies are total death traps as far as I'm concerned. Very very unsafe to ride in. Crepe soles would be safer than them.

These aren't wide and thick soles on my crepe soles. The reason why it was still in my stirrup was because it was rubberbanded in. I have plenty of room on either side of my stirrup and my feet are far from wedged in.

In this pic you can see how much room I have on the outside of my stirrup.
