I have had a foster dog for 4 mos. now, she was at the shelter for 3 before I took her in. My husband says I need to find her a home before Christmas..... she is a pretty good dog but will roam if she doesn't have a big yard or high fenced yard. 7yrs, black lab/Shar Pei mix. Timid of people at first but warms up quickly. Pretty good in house if you take her out often, was probably abused at some point but has come a LONG ways. Sits, stays, down and great with other dogs.

I've tried Craigslist, facebook, word of mouth, good pics (which are hard to take since she is camera shy!!), adoptathons.... Running out of ideas......

If anyone has ANY ideas I would LOVE to hear them... if I take her back to the shelter she will be euthanized...

Try a local dog group. Like the agility folks or some club like that. Maybe take her to a few classes

Wow, we sound like we are living parallel lives. I have a shelter dog that I am fostering and my husband wants gone by Christmas!
They think she was a bait pup that got mange and therefore could not be adopted until she was over the mange. She obviously has dog agression issues but is good with our dogs. She is NOT good with livestock still to this day.
I have tried rescue groups, facebook, you name it. If I return her to the shelter- she now has the same 3 days as any other dog.
She is very sweet, loyal and loving. Would be a great town dog, apartment dog, guard dog.

If you get something figured out- let me know.

Well, I can sympathize.  My mom called last week and said to swing by her work on my way home, that there was the cutest little dog that had been there for 2 days.  So I do.  We really don't need another dog....we already have 4.  She IS the cutest little dog...i'm assuming half corgi half heeler.  Poor thing apparently got run over.  Mom took her to the vet yesterday and found she has a displaced fracture of her stifle in her bag leg. Options are amputation, euthanasia, pinning it, or doing nothing.  She's a very happy girl and appears to be in no pain.  She needs to find a new home, but i'm not sure anyone will want to take that on knowing that she will probably never be normal.  She also needs to be spayed.  The surgery would cost $600 - $800 that I don't have, nor does my mom.  So I just really don't know what to do.  She's a great dog, sticks around outside, she will chase a horse though.  :(  I just wish I could find someone who wanted a really good little dog.  She's precious!

You might look at the Corgi Connection on Facebook- they seem to have a good group of fosters ect.

oh how sad :( I'm sorry, what a tough decision... maybe she could heal up on her own and be a good dog for SOMEONE! Ugh, I wish people would FIX their DOGS and QUIT pawning them off on the kind hearted people... it disgusts me..... the sad thing is THEY don't pay for it... the dog does and usually with it's life!

No, its like 5 or 7 days to be reclaimed but once adoptable they have 3 days.

You are kidding me! Where do you live? Even if they aren't full? That is terrible... what is the "save" rate.... we usually have no time limit at our shelter unless we are full or if they have behavioral problems....That is horrible... they aren't doing near enough to save them.

I have 4 rescue dogs now that I will keep, but I've probably fostered 5 or 6 in the last several years that went to very good homes.....one of the dogs I have here was supposed to be temporary...LOL...I've had him 2 years, so I guess he's here to stay....

I just babysat for my neighbor's JRT while they went out of town and they want to give him to me....he's a little shorty...so cute!.....why can't I say no?  I'm such a sucker for any breed, I don't discriminate....

I feel your pain.....I cringe when I see a dog "out there" that needs a home because I'm always the one to pick it up, take it to the vet, spend money and then find a home for them....free of course...LOL....

You are awesome for doing that! I guess I wouldn't be too upset if I had to keep her for a yr but my husband is getting cranky about having her! :( Hopefully he'll forget about it lol.

Great work with the dogs!!
