Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | I just shared this with Alison, but I figured why not share with you guys too.....it's Friday......let's laugh a little :)
So, most of you know I bought a goat on Wednesday that I'm bottle feeding.
Well, we have a sleep room for the Trauma Surgeons across the hall from my office. It's loaded with a bed, refridgerator, flat screen tv, shower, leather recliner....the works. We keep our coffee creamer and some sodas in the fridge in there. One of the Trauma PA's recently had a child and she's pumping her breasts in there too. So, I go in there this morning and the window sill is lined with suction cups (I guess), nipples and bottles all disassembled. There were four of each. I'm assuming there will be some breast milk in that fridge later on today.
That's right lol.....Jennifer has a great idea :)
What if I steal one of the bottles of milk for my goat???? The PA will be like, "I know I had four bottles in here!" They will never suspect me lmao..... |

Is the goat still taking milk? Or have you tried giving her some feed? I use to have one YEARS ago, and she took a bottle for awhile then I started her on some feed.
She will only eat dead leaves besides the milk right now. I am assuming she came from a place with only leaves to eat. I have sweet feed, some cracked corn and rice bran for her in three little buckets lol....in case she want's to give one a try. I, also, have two whole bales of hay in her little pen in case she wants to nibble on that.....AND lol......I picked her some grass this morning. I believe I have covered all my bases lmao.....only thing left would be to get her a little human breast milk lol... |

And given that you work in a hospital, I bet the PA could kill you and make it look like natural causes.
So for your safety, don't let that liquid gold tempt you. I can promise you don't want to pick that battle. You will lose. And you will die.

My MIL is still scared of me for the butt-chewing she got after telling me that some of my milk "looked funny" so she threw it out. She probably would have preferred death than what I dished out that day.

When Winston was a baby, he was on milk replacer 4 to 5 times a day for several weeks. The first time we tried to cut back, he went hypothermic on me. Had to take him to the vet and get rehydrated because he then wouldn't eat. Had to give shots in his neck for a week. So your best bet is to keep bottling her. When she's ready, she will start eating hay and what not. |

When we had bummer lambs, and my Mom wanted to start them on grain, she would buy the real sticky 2-way mix no corn yet for little tummies, then would mix in the milk powder(lot of it) which would stick to the molasses.
They soon where chomping down.

There are some brands better than others but I wouldn't chance using any of it. We raise all of our kids on whole cows milk. It HAS to be pasteurized though just an FYI. So store bought cow's milk is fine and cheaper than the replacer. I keep all my kids on the bottle for at least 8 weeks. Also, just be careful you aren't giving her too much milk as she will literally drink until she dies. What breed is she? If you want I can give you a bottle feeding chart. If I'm being pushy and you already know all of these things feel free to slap me!  |

She looks like maybe an Saanen or a Saanen cross to me which would make her a large dairy breed. If you do decide to take her off the replacer just make sure you switch her over to the cow's milk slowly. Just like a horse, which I'm sure you knew lol. How old is she? It looks like she's getting horns in that pic so I'm assuming around 3 weeks?
I just looked again and she has a 3/4 fold on her ears so not full blood saanen lol. Maybe a Saanen/Nubian or Saanen/Boer cross. Lol.

If she is a Boer/Saanen cross she will be large enough to carry a 5 year old. I've got one I will loan you guys!  |

She looks like maybe an Saanen or a Saanen cross to me which would make her a large dairy breed. If you do decide to take her off the replacer just make sure you switch her over to the cow's milk slowly. Just like a horse, which I'm sure you knew lol. How old is she? It looks like she's getting horns in that pic so I'm assuming around 3 weeks?
I just looked again and she has a 3/4 fold on her ears so not full blood saanen lol. Maybe a Saanen/Nubian or Saanen/Boer cross. Lol.
I think she's a mutt goat lol. I have no idea how old she is. They passed her in the local sale Wednesday without her Momma. She isn't old. And, yes Cristol, she will be a race goat lol.
If she is a Boer/Saanen cross she will be large enough to carry a 5 year old. I've got one I will loan you guys!

I do think she is a adorable but not being mean wtf are they good for? And you still wont disclose what her speed index is. She is probably just a 1500.00 claimer and you are trying to scare me off of a match race, I will be searching craigs list tonight to find my ultimate ostrich with a minumin speed index of 98 to whoop your cute cuddly goats ars, with my 5 yr old jockey aboard. Plus dont be drugging your goat there will be drug tests after the race. |

Well dont get too worried yet I still not have heard from my 5 yr old jockey yet, perhaps he,or she will want too much percentange on our match race. I still am laughing my ars off that they are actually racing ostriches at the fairgrounds Do they really have a jockey on them? what other wierd things are they racing when they call it exotic animal racing? Well I do know that your racing goat looks like a little princess, and there are a few weed I mean weeds to clean up around this farm lol

I was told goats were good weed eaters. I was also looking for a pet for my son who was well not so gentle with things. So I decided a goat would be a good fit...ended up with two Nigerian Dwarfs, they are dairy goats. They DO NOT eat weeds! Only alfalfa, grain and my flowers! Okay and the occasional stray piece of string or something which results in my chasing them across the yard, cussing at them to spit that out! They r like firkin kids!,, |

When Winston was a baby, he was on milk replacer 4 to 5 times a day for several weeks. The first time we tried to cut back, he went hypothermic on me. Had to take him to the vet and get rehydrated because he then wouldn't eat. Had to give shots in his neck for a week. So your best bet is to keep bottling her. When she's ready, she will start eating hay and what not.
Yeah, she's on the powdered milk replacer.....forgot the name......red bag lol.....there's a little goat, sheep, horse and calf on the front of the bag.
I'm just going to throw my 2 cents out here about the milk replacer but I would NEVER use it. I know many people who have kids who have died from it. I've never offered mine "treats". They would probably eat it. I have found that they like mostly dead stuff, except for my flowers. They won't eat grass but dead crunchy leaves they like. Fall is their favorite! |
