I live a little north of Austin, Texas and actually work in South Austin. There are several boarding places around the Central Texas area. Lots of barrel races as well. I have lived in this area all my life and love it. pm me when you get here and I will help you out if I can.
Can't help with the boarding as most keep their own horses at home. Here's a start. Makes a huge difference as to what side of Austin you will be living.

THCBRA (Dripping Springs), CTBRA (has some in Saledo,Belton,Hamilton..etc.), Poor Girl Productions on FB (typically Bastrop), Texas Lost Pines Riding Club on FB (Elgin), ebarrelracing.com usually has most listed, STBRA has some in Giddings, www.rodeotexas.org has jackpots in Georgetown. I'm no help as far as boarding though... you may be able to ask on the association fb pages and get some feedback.
