Who has read the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series and the new Wicked series?
I think I want to be Stephanie Plum when I grow up.
I was looking through Amazon the other day and I thought I had read all of the Plum books and it looks like number 20 is about to come out, I think I might have missed 18 or 19. I've also read the Between the Plum books I also read Wicked Appetite but did not know Wicked Business was already out.
I've also recently read most of the J.D. Robb "In Death" series.

I have some time off this week and am hoping to read it. I loved how funny the first ones were...gosh #4 and 8 had me crying I was laughing so bad. 19 had one really funny part. I haven't read the Wicked series yet, but hear they are good. |

You should listen to the audio book of the series sometime!! I've missed a few of the older ones, might have to break down and read a book; usually listen when I'm out riding! I liked the Kate Buckholder Series by Linda Castillo, Amish murder mysteries.

The heroine is a homicide Lieutenant in NY during 2059. There are 35 books in the series...love them. The author aka Nora Roberts. I read lots of different author's, but she is my one favorite.
I just started reading a series by Robert B. Parker. |

Another Linda Castillo fan! Sixpatches and I are always chatting about the Kate Burkholder books. Have you read any of her back list? They are more romance and are a little cheesy, but Overkill is good. I think it was her last romance before she started the Kate series. It has a short barrel racing scene that is kind of fun. Linda has run barrels before so she wrote it well! |

Location: the end of the rainbow | Love to read. Haven't bought any new books recently, hubby put a ban on any new real books & I broke my kindle. The last in the Janet Evanovitch series I read was 13, took a break for a couple of years & I'm ready to read a couple more now. Love Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, like Gregory McGuire (or however you spell it). The J.D. Robb In Death series someone mentioned is pretty good & I like Nora Roberts romances too. I own a copy of every Dick Francis book & re-read them regularly. I've always liked Mercedes Lackey (fantasy fiction) & Anne McCaffrey. Robert Heinlein is my favorite sci fi writer & I own a copy of all of his books too. David Eddings series of books are good fantasy fiction & when I'm in the mood for a good cry a Nicholas Sparks books never lets me down.
Hubby says I'm a compulsive reader. I will read just about anything. I can think of worse things to be. . |

Location: Southern OK aka God's Country | I actually couldn't stand the 50 Shades books--I thought the writing was horrendous so I never made it past the first one (how many times can you bite your lip??) And I am not into vampires and Twilight, and the whole concept of Hunger Games was seriously disturbing (the short story The Lottery comes to mind and I found it disturbing too). I guess I'm too old, I don't know--I AM in my 30's now. The most recent book I read was Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier (yes, as in the forever ago movie with Jude Law and Nicole Kidman). Charles Frazier is who I would consider an amazing author. His style is beautiful and haunting, and when I was done with CM, I felt heavy for days. And that's how I know it was a great book. If a book doesn't affect me, then it wasn't really worth reading, in my opinion. |

See I sort of liked the other one... I can't remember it's name... Interesting cross-section and discussion of the haves vs have-nots in British society. Very different from her other books though.
Found it... The Casual Vacancy

I guess saying it was terrible is an over-statement but I didn't like it very much. It's not a book I would recommend. Try reading Cuckoo. It's not at all typical of what you think JK would write. I found myself wanting to read more and more of the book which is rare for me. |

I download mine off our local library. They have a large selection but not everything.
I use a Sansa MP3 player, and have had to call/email the library to get the kinks out to download in the beginning. This new computer I finally figured out to download mp3.

Location: TX | I love to read and am addicted to auidobooks. I even listen to them while I am home and cleaning. Favorite Author-Jennifer Crusie, 2 of my favorite of her's are Agnes and the Hitman and Tell me Lies , kind of fun romantic comedy type and little mystery.
Favorite book-The $80 Champion-true story, any horse lover should probably love it!
Stephanie Bond's Body Movers series is good, I have not liked her other books. Kind of like the Stephanie Plum series, but I like Bond better.
I have liked Kristin HAnnah's books, but have bawled uncontrolably in all of them, don't read them on a plane. There is one that one of the main characters is a barrel racer, not a big part of the book, but I liked it.
I enjoyed Denise Swanson's series Murder of ...
Catherine Anderson-Cheyenne Amber was good
Where'd you go Bernadette was good
Nora Roberts-Angel fist or falls? and Montana Skies and Northern Lights are really good. I don't like her super natural books, a little too dark for me.
Oh my I could keep going |

Location: North MS | I read most anything fiction. I LOVE horses of course, but I can't finish Secretariat. Last night I read Lynsay Sands- The lady is a vamp. I love the series she has written about the Argeneau Vampire family and relating them to the lost city of Atlantis where nanos originally created to heal, continued to heal forever and never quit.
I love Stephanie Plum books and picked up two on Saturday as well. I haunt the local goodwill store and will soon have the entire series.
Another funny book I recently read was "The Housewife Assasin's Handbook". It was a free kindle download on amazon. I am finding a lot of new books on there to use on my Samsung Tab 2. I bought the sequel- The Housewife Assasin's guide to gracious killing. Basically a housewife is an undercover assasin while juggling 3 kids. More funny than gruesome.
Eyes of Ember and Kiss of Fire by Rebecca Ethington. Still somewhat a paranormal book, but more about elves and fairies. Of course a bad guy is trying to take over the world too.
I picked up a lot of Linda Lael Miller Saturday too because I wanted a few more western or at least horse related stories.
For book swapping I use-paperbackbookswap.com I list my books and mail at my cost. Pick books I want and get them for free as long as I have given someone else a book.
I used to read a lot of Christine Feehan but got tired of the re-occuring themes. Love the Charlaine Harris Sookie Series. Maryjanice Davidson has some funny vampire stories. Imagine a shopaholic vampire with style. She gets her characters into a lot of funny messes. One of the books is named "Unwed and Undead". Kim Harrison writes a little harder/edgier paranomal stuff. I've read a lot of JR Ward's stuff too. Jeaniene Frost is a little harder edged too. Laurel K. Hamilton is the same, but a lot of books in her series.
A funny book based on Mississippi that I found in Barnes and Noble lately is "Greedy Bones". It talks a lot about towns I drive through so I found it interesting.
Can't ready crime novels though- they give me nightmares. I guess because the chance of that happening is greater than any vampire or zombie attack. |

Can't believe we have to wait until July for the next one too! |

rach.k - 2013-11-25 9:00 AM Has anyone read the Lonesome Dove books? Worth reading or is the movie just as good? (Can't believe I just said that, but c'mon- it's LONESOME DOVE!) I love Wicked & the Hunger Games Trilogy; I really like Twilight when I read those too! I personally really like George MacDonald! He is technically a children's author although not all of his works are children's books, but I love even those supposedly written for kids! My favorite was "At the Back of the North Wind," (Which I believe is free on Kindle).
Yes, Lonesome Dove is even better than the movie! Didn't think that was possible, but it is. Lol. It goes into a lot more detail and has some things that weren't in the movie. Well worth the read!
Well.. Larry McMurtry won a Pulitzer for Lonesome Dove.... I did read "The Streets of Laredo".. the sequel. both are worth reading...
I'm a big Tom Clancy fan. He makes 007 (James Bond) look pretty small... and he is closer to the truth. I recommend reading 'Without Remorse' first.. Then follow it with 'Executive Orders' then 'The Bear and the Dragon'...
..another good spy book written by an author named Roger Hall.. quite old and about the OSS..' You're Stepping on my Cloak and Dagger".. very funny...
:::::as I look around to make sure nobody I know is looking:::: I recommend the author, ..::::looking around again::: Danielle Steel.... She spins a great yarn around a ... (gasp...puke) love story..
For those people that want to read one (1) good SiFy... Battlefield Earth... Best I ever ran across...
For obscure books... Omar, A Police Dog.. Ranger, Sea Dog of the Royal Mounted.. and of course the newer best stuff about animals... 'The Art Of Driving In The Rain'... A Dog's Purpose and the sequel.. 'A Dog's Journey'
For the greatest story ever told... Read "The Bible"....

Location: Wyoming | I read 'Being George Washington' it was very good. So was 'Killing Lincoln' Right now I am reading 'The Art of Being Unmistakeable' On my list to Read: 'Life Inside the Bubble' 'Washington's Secret Six' and a third one that the name just totally excaped me. I have the sample on my Kindle. It has to do with the corruption in DC. Not so long ago, my favorites were by Tami Hoag. I haven't changed, but I know I'm not the same.

| Komet do you have a address you can recieve mail to? I'd be happy to send you some books you might enjoy. If you'd like to have some that is. You don't have to worry about returning them. Just share with someone else that might enjoy them. |

Location: Arkansas | I read a lot and quickly. I have a Kindle and read lots of the free books. I like a variety of things-no horror though. I have read the Plum books multiple times, the Jack Reacher series, most of Karin Slaughter's book. I love Karen Kingsbury as well. |
