| One of our horses got loose at a public arena, ended up running into the road and falling hard. Time stood still in fear of a car hitting him. By far one of he scariest moments.
He got up and ran home. He wasn't sore at all for the next 3 days. Day 4 whole different story. Very lame and stifle was popping every step. Took him in immediately worrying about a torn ligament in stifle. Conclusion was no serious damage, sprain but no tear, and severe muscle bruising.
They suggested stall rest, acuscope and bute. I also had him adjusted today to get everything back in alignment. There is very minimal swelling and no heat, but he is sore to the touch.
Does anyone have recommendations On anything I can do or give him to help the healing process? Any input on popping sound in stifle?
Thank you! | |

Just curious- who was the "they" who recommended Acuscope? And did they not know that Acuscope was the name of an old microcurrent machine which is outdated by faster, smaller and more user friendly units? Anytime I hear the word "acuscope" these days, I worry about the person saying it and the credentials and education that they have. For the serious bruising- I would leave the microcurrent therapy for now, and go for the bute, rest, ice therapy, and find an infrasound machine- like an old Qi Machine, if a newer unit isn't available. After the injury is past it's acute stage, then I'd go for the microcurrent and laser therapies. Good luck! :)

| All kinds of "therapies" come and go. If you've been around as long as I have, you've seen a bunch. One thing that doesn't change, "Time heals all wounds." I had a horse hit by a car when I was a teen. I treated him back then the same way I would today. Turn him out for 6 months and let him heal. He came back sound, happy, and snappy! He was still running in his late 20's. Good luck, and give him/her time.... | |

Location: Great NW | Time and Stall rest per Vet recommendations. Micro Current will help the area too ~ as many times as you can afford it will help relieve the inflamation. I wish you the best and glad you had a good outcome from what could have been a bad situation. Prayers (sounds like you have a vet with a very open mind).
