Here is a picture from this weekend in Marshall TX. The race was a 5D and we fell right in the middle of the 4D. Just wanted to keep folks updated on his progress. Also remember that he runs much better with his trainer than he does with me. She wanted me to ride him this weekend to see how well he would do with me and the vet wanted me to ride him to see how he would run.

For those who missed the story. This is the Reserve World Champion pole horse. As we drove to Ft Worth my trainer and I discussed why the horse was so body sore and what my trainer had done to help him. I felt that his EPM had returned and when we go to Ft. Worth I called the vet and made an appointment for him that Saturday. He could not have run at all without Aculife Patches and did well with my trainer riding him.

He went to the vet that Saturday which was two and a half weeks ago. Vet says that he has relapsed. We have been treating this horse for 2 years in Dec. He has a very mild case with very subtle symptoms. The vet said that he was somewhat upset that the horse had relapsed because he felt that we were missing something. He also said that EPM was evident in this area (NE TX) and were just going to have to deal with it.

He was treated with Baycox and his last treatment was Nov 20. The horse was back at the vet Nov. 26. Vet said that I needed to run him, so I did. I do not ride as well as my trainer but she wanted me to run him.

1. he was not roaring
2. he was not limping on his right rear leg
3. his back was still sore but much better
4. his topline has filled in quite a bit.

He will have to be monitored regularly for the next few months but I usually tell the vet what symptoms that I am seeing.

Sorry I wrote a book.
