I am a Christian. By that I mean, I love Jesus and I'm so grateful He saved my sorry butt because I need that Grace every single day. I'm thankful to His father for sending him to us and without Him I am nothing. That all being said, I've hit a dry patch lately. I chalk most of it up to not staying in the Word, I shrivel right up when I stop breathing Him in that way, but I've found it particularly hard to bounce back this time.

My body has always been a bit of a freak of nature- If I take hair skin and nails vitamins I break out and my nails get brittle, if I take a medication and a side effect is weight gain, I'll lose, if it's weight loss I'll gain. I'm just weird like that. So pregnancy hasn't been any different, while most women I've read & been told hit a high point emotionally, I have felt almost depressed. I am HAPPY about the baby of course, I am HAPPY with my life and I love my fiancé, but I've felt hopeless, "stuck," and just sad.

It really confused me because I'm a happy person. I've never been quite like this for no reason so I started trying to do something about it. I've busied myself with my beadwork, a lot of hatband orders have been coming in around Christmas time so that's helped some, I also started exercising as regularly as possible again, jogging/walking as my body allows, sleeping whenever I need it is a luxury I have right now, being that I'm in a semester of school and therefore didn't work, so I'm taking advantage of that although I am currently job searching. I've begun reading a little more again, starting back at the basics, in the Gospels, remembering who our Jesus is and how he loves us. Also, water intake and fast food ANTIintake, all help but I would really love some prayers for strength, dedication and clarity in all of this :)

Peace is a word that I suppose sums all of those things up. I just refuse to allow this BAD MOOD to take up one more day of my life, its a precious gift, especially right now, and I'm not willing to allow it to be sucked up into self pity and depression. Now that I've written my life's story, I know y'all have your own stuff going on too, so sincerely, thank you for reading this and for your prayers :) I really REALLY appreciate it.

I don't know much about pregnancy but maybe hormones are part of the problem? I do know what it's like to feel exactly as you're feeling and I'm glad that you said you're getting more into the word. I've been struggling desperately with depression and just the dark sad feelings but getting into the Word amd just meditating on His promises has brought light where I thought it wasn't possible. I also found a wonderful church where I'm learning and excited every week to hear the Word. The Bible says its our daily bread and just like our fleshly bodies, if we don't feed our spirit it gets weak. I even went to Christian counseling and she just listened, told me what the Lord says about me and my situations, and prays with me and I can't tell you how much the darkness started to lift.

Praying for you friend and congratulations on that sweet baby!

I so appreciate you sharing your own experience! I'm certain hormones are a huge part, along with it being such a huge change and the stress of getting everything situated at first the hormones are definitely heightening everything. I am going to consider counseling if I find I can't do enough to lift the heaviness alone :) thank you all so much!

Because of recent events I cannot offer advice except to say be thankful God has chosen you for a precious gift.  But I will say a prayer for you that you can find a way and help to feel better.

Ditto.  You might be surprised at how helpful your doctor can be.  Don't be afraid or embarrassed to tell him.  It's real and affects many people

Thanks everyone, for your kind words and advice :)  I have a 14 week appointment coming up soon and if there isn't significant change I plan to talk to my doctor for sure!  I would like to avoid any medications, even those said to be safe for pregnant women, because if some fresh air and more time in the Word will help that is certainly my first choice!  I've linked a lot of it just to proper care for myself, body, mind, and soul.  Thanks so much again!

Your doc may be able to suggest even diet changes that can help with moods, so definitely ask him!!  And keep us posted.  We may not be professionals but talking helps

Honey, many prayers for you. I've never been pregnant, so I know nothing about the hormones regarding that. But I know how you feel in regards to self pity and depression. It is difficult. Staying busy is good, but with you being pregnant, don't do too much and tire yourself out. Don't be afraid to talk to your Dr. about it, as hormones may very well play into it.
Going to God is the right answer, I have no doubt of that. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Read Romans 5:1-11 for sure, and if you get a chance Zepheniah 3:17 and Jeremiah 29:11-12. And remember the Fruits of the Spirit as well.  I wish I could give you a hug, so here is a cyber hug along with prayers.

ETA Jeremiah 29:11-12 & right in down through 14 has always been a favorite passage of mine!

Post partum depression may be something you have to deal with as well if you're having trouble now. So I'd also talk to your doc about that.

Food can have a HUGE impact on your mental status, especially sugars and simple carbs.

When I hit a rough patch like I am in now, I listen to any and all Christian music on my iPod, or I listen to klove while driving.  When I go to bed, I listen to my iPod as well. Christian music is my primary music source anyway, but it didn't used to be. A couple years ago, I hit a dark patch and was lost. I was scanning radio stations in the car and KLove came on. After the very first song, I felt such an overwhelming peace around me. I haven't varied much from that station since though I do love my country music too!
A lot of people get a bit off track during pregnancies. Hormones can really beat our emotions up. Talk to your doctor and have your hormone levels checked out. I will be praying for you.

I agree, seek help and start eliminating foods from your diet and see if that helps. Dairy, grains and sugar can do terrible things to some people. Hugs and prayers and keep reaching out for help. Congratulations on the baby :).
