I am so ****ed off right now and just want to kill someone. I am working in Houston this week and parked my truck in hotel parking lot. I got done today at around 230 and went out at 6 to go grab something to eat and started my truck and it sounded too loud. I thought huh? And went to chillis to get a salad and noticed it was smelling like exhaust and saw smoke coming out of bottom. CRAP! Called hubby and we went through stuff over phone and I eventually crawled under truck an saw LARGE part l my exhaust was missing. WTH! Hubby says it is DFP and is expensive. Called cops and did a report and hotel is supposed to look at video footage and see if they saw anything. Now I am out of my 500 dollar deductible. Cause some POS felt the need to steal part of my truck! This sucks especially rich before Christmas and before my hubby heads out of town for work and had to replace his motor in his truck. I am seriously about to have a melt down. What is wrong with people?

That sucks, sorry.  Justa heads up for the people who have camera's in their tailgates, thieves are stealing the tailgates, another item that is expensive to replace. Lock um up!

If yours is a dodge I would suggest looking into the delete kit, you will get much better fuel milage. And it costs about the same as changing the filter

Oh yes, I remember the good old tailgate days when I lived in El Paso 20 years ago. Guess some were lazy tho. The last time they just stole my whole truck.

Same thing happened to my friend at OKC fairgrounds during the BBR this April! Her truck was parked right by the nose of my trailer and we never heard a thing. I guess it's fairly common and they are in and out in a matter of minutes!

The more I think about it the madder I get. Hubby brought up a good point...glad I did not go out to truck earlier and catch them in the act. I would have freaked out and probably ended up getting shot or something. As much as I travel time to get my CHL!

DPF deletes are illegal except for off road racing and will void the warranty. I thought about doing this to my truck but changed my mind after doing some research, I also kinda like the air I breathe.

What part of Houston were you in? Im sure you are aware, if you work in this area much, but there are some very undesireable areas to be in.

Not where I live, there are some dodge dealerships that will delete them.

That kind of thievery is a national pastime in our area along with stealing copper.  Sorry, but it has something to do with the influx of illegals.  All the computer equipment was stolen out of several trucks stored in one facility the other day and homes are constantly being broken into. Two horses were stolen from a pasture.  The list goes on.

I know right ... This area usually isn't too bad. I was here about a month ago at another hospital and stayed at a hotel right across the highway without any issues. I guess it could have been worse.

Houston has gotten really bad.  Sorry about what happened to you BB. We have an office down there and one of our service techs was at a job in a large building fixing a machine and when he went out to his van for parts someone had broken into it a stole his laptop and some other tools.  It totally ticks me off.  We were down in Houston for Thanksgiving and my DH made sure everything was LOCKED no matter how long we were going to be gone.

Low crime areas are just as prone for this as high crime areas here in Houston.  There is a professional ring for anything having precious metals.  DPF, catalytic converters, wheels, copper wire.  Dealerships are particularly vulnerable.  Mine have been hit three times this year.

yes, I am fully aware of that.. As im sure you are aware that area is not "normally" a high crime area. As far as thefts and vandalisim I know it happens everywhere, but its just not as common in that area.

Nope no kiss. Lol. At least I only have to pay deductible and I will probably be able to expense my rental as a work expense. Oh heck just realize who should have kissed me more. The TheIF or the dealership lol

If all that was stolen was the DPF and nothing was torn up that is at least twice what it should cost to fix.

I really have no idea exactly what was stolen othe than DPF. It was a 2 foot section of my exhaust system in the middle. Dodge said the part was 2500 on its own. I know that deals overcharge for parts but when your in a bind and not near home you go somewhere dependable who will stand behind work.

I was thinkin' a little electric fence that would zot the bad guys pretty good when they stick their scummy faces under there!  Just hit the remote to activate it when you leave your truck and curl their hair if they are in the wrong place!
