Paul Walker Died from Effects of 'Traumatic and Thermal Injuries,' Autopsy Confirms
Paul Walker

Autopsy results released Wednesday reveal that Paul Walker died from combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.

His friend Roger Rodas, who witnesses say was driving the vehicle that crashed and killed both men on Saturday, died from multiple traumatic injuries.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner conducted an autopsy on both bodies on Tuesday. Both deaths were ruled accidents. A toxicology analysis is still pending and could take weeks to complete.

Walker and Rodas died after a special-edition Porsche crashed into a light pole, two trees and a sign noting the street's 45 m.p.h. speed limit.

An investigator says their car was going at least 90 m.p.h. when it crashed.

Walker was participating in the Reach Out WorldWide charity car show before he died. Friends told PEOPLE he was excited about the toys his charity was collecting for children affected by Typhoon Haiyan and tornadoes in the Midwestern U.S.

He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter Meadow Rain.

I was wondering why they did an autopsy.  Not sure what else they thought they were going to find.

I believe autopsies are REQUIRED. For one thing, they can make sure someone wasn't dead (either of natural causes or via "foul play") BEFORE the accident happened.

In Minnesota, this is the case. In an "unexpected" death, they are required. I would imagine with the high publicity of his death, they also would do one just to cover all their bases and eliminate any rumors.

he sure was a handsome fella. Feel bad for her daughter (for the name and that her dad is dead). I bet most of these famous peeps have life insurance and I think they have to have autopsies for the insurance too.

I have read so many stories about his generosity and kindness.  One was he was at a jewelry store at the same time as a soldier and fiancé looking at rings.   They put back the ring she like because it was 10k, way more than they could afford.   Paul discreetly told the store to put it on his tab and to not tell the soldier who his benefactor was.    It was not till  his passing that the jeweler revealed it was him.

Wow, that was so nice. There are angels on earth. He was one that you never saw all over the headlines for being an a hole or drunk in public stuff. His seemed to be good publicity. I'm going to miss his movies, never was sure if he was a good actor, just very easy to look at.

I saw on a commercial last night that Fast 6 is coming out in stores in the next few days.  They said that ALL proceeds from the sale of this movie would be going to his charity.  I thought that was nice.

Some filmmakers require via contract that their actors not engage in dangerous activities until the movie is in the can.  Makes sense.

I thought they were mainly trying to verify who was whom in the car?

Collision reconstruction is commonly done on cases with multiple fatalities or prosecution in California. It helps the investigators to match up injuries with what was going on inside and outside the vehicle.
For example, if someone was unbelted At the time of the crash, you would see completely different kinds of injuries vs a belted passenger or driver. I also helps to give some tangible evidence as to who was actually driving (drivers have different injuries in different places than passengers). It also helps to determine speed at the time of impact when looking at internal injuries and primary direction of force. Nerd stuff.

...or there was a slight miscalculation as to what was considered dangerous.
