Who would you put in it?  What would be the draw?
It seems as though everything is drama these days... but real rodeo or even jackpot barrel racing has its own flavor, its own trauma and drama... if you made the show, how would you do it?

I think if I put on a show, I would find those who do a lot of travel and try and get girls who both do it all themselves and those who have a lot of help. I think it would also add a good twist to have some more local barrel racers who are trying to make it. Emphasize what it takes to be successful.

I think there is enough realistic drama with injuries, truck trouble, weather, etc and the suspense speaks for itself I think if the real story is told.

It worked for the racing industry with the show "The Jockeys"......They didn't have to take off their clothes, dance around naked, sleep with anybody and everybody etc. and the show was on for, at least, two or three seasons.......

There is plenty of drama in rodeo...I am guessing most contestants would prefer to do the job at hand and keep a low profile...pretty and drama sells..maybe a show about the single bull riders and the buckle bunnies!!!

I would love to have a show following some of the riders on the NFR trail. Pretty much all of the ladies that have been in the top 20 the last few years.
I would also love to see a show follow around some serious "weekend warriors". How do they make it work and be serious about competing with a normal job and family.

There was a video made a few years back called Turn and Burn that did this... I liked watching it but unfortunately something like that is only popular to a limited audience and that is why they don't do it more often... I think that we all have a pretty selection to watch these days on the internet at least.

I would love to see them jumping in airplanes to get from rodeo to rodeo and the hectic schedule they keep with meetings with sponsors, rehabbing injured horses, keeping horses legged up while on the road, training young ones in between rodoes, etc. There was a short clip on FB that followed Brittany Pozzi from a rodeo to the Diamonds In Dirt futurity and her getting  on a private jet and getting picked up at the airport to be taken to the arena. It was really good and I wanted to see so much more!

They had a reality show about bull riders … I can't remember the channel … but it seemed pretty real and normal. No added drama.

If I remember correctly … the Jockeys was pulled around the same time as the big stories about how poorly some trainers/owners treat race horses (stories about those using certain meds, etc) … or something like that.

I would pick people with a sense of humor for sure.  I think humor is a big draw...... at least for me.  I like to laugh.

I would focus a little more on the competition aspect of it, but certainly include the behind the scenes work of getting down the road, keeping the horses working, fashion, friendships, etc.  I would try to make it where people root for their favorite contestant.  After I get everyone hooked on the show, I would start the eliminations. Ha!  Like Survivor, The Voice, America's Got Talent.......that kind of thing.

I might even do a real rodeo girls makeover.  Take a rodeo girl and give her a complete makeover.  I might even pull in a city slicker and give her a real rodeo girl makeover just for kicks & let the real cowgirls teach them a bit.  I could have a little competition between the city slicker girls and their real rodeo girl coaches...... Like on The Voice.  Heck, maybe I've come up with a great idea.  The Cowgirl..  a real rodeo girl gets a team of city slickers who want to go country & they are mentored.

I would LOVE to see a documentary/show on Weekend Warriors. Gosh, I may just have to buy some camera equipment and do it myself. :) lol. I'd love being behind the scenes and doing the recording. Anyone else game? :)

If I was making a show, I'd show a little drama, but not the type of full blown unclassy drama we are expecting to see from Rodeo Girls.

I'd like to see the ups and the downs of the industry. Like the wipeouts, the injuries, the busted knees, blown tires, expenses getting out of hand. Everything from the good to the bad.

I'd focus on a few of those who are on the top of the industry and some of the weekend warriors. I don't know how I'd mix the two, but I'm sure I could figure some cool way to do it, maybe splice each episode with the last 15 minutes of a 45 minute show, following a few weekend warriors, maybe a different weekend warrior every episode. Or maybe focus more on the weekend warriors and showcase a pro rodeo rider the last 15 mins and do a different one each episode. I think a lot of younger barrel racers would really enjoy that.

I'd show some of the drama, and some of the "fun" behind it all. I know at some of the bigger shows, the barrel racers around me celebrate in normal fashion, music, a little beer, muddy arena football, etc.! :)

I know it'd probably cause problems, but I've seen parents holler and yell, and even come to blows with their teenagers at barrel races. It happens, it's life, and it'd be a flair of drama that some people could relate to. I've seen people get into it with the tractor drivers because the arena wasn't dragged good enough.. I mean, we can all relate in some manner to the NORMAL drama.

I know you all have that one "cowboy cassanova" in your rodeo crowd, and that one "promiscuous, daddy's money girl".

It'd be nice to see the small flairs of the real drama in the circles most of us ride in. :)

I could go on and on but I think I'll save y'all the boring details.

We hope to have videos ready to go by January 1st. So far we have past NFR qualifiers and futurity champions. We will be at Big barrel races and rodeos following barrel racers and other events as well and youth rodeos. Pure clean videos. No drama. The videos will be real life and show the true heritage of our sport and the impact it has on our youth all the way to our older riders. We want people to know what our sport is truly about. We have a Facebook page Gone West Media and will be posting updates and will get an ad on BHW also.
